We booked 2 tours with Tour East on Viator during our 2 day stay in Bangkok. First was fullday private tour to floating markets and Bridge on River Kwai with Suki and Anun. Suki was very knowledgable and our tour went very smoothly. Pick up was spot on time and we had a great day. Floating markets are a must do in Thailand and we are so glad we did it. Tried coconut pancakes and mango sticky rice from street vendors there. Yum! Make sure you haggle alot at the markets. At least start at half the asking price! Lunch was on River Kwai, buffet style with limited options but filled us up. We went to the Museum, Cemetery and Bridge on River Kwai as well as coconut product factory and markets.
The second tour was to Emerald Buddah temple. Peter was our guide, who was very good. Pick up again was on time despite our booking having the wrong hotel name on it (don't know how that happened). This was quickly sorted by the concierge at our hotel. We had a nice tour to the temple, we were also shown where the King lives now. Not sure why they take you a long way out of their way to take you to the gem factory, interesting to see the workmanship in the factory but then the inevitable tour through the jewellery shop. Private transfers were then arranged to get us back to where we needed to be to get back to our ship. Overall, everything went well, pricing for the private tour was higher than I might have expected for Thailand but was definitely worth not having to wait for 50 people to get on and off the bus and have personalised attention. Can recommend Tour East to do what they say they will do at reasonable cost. Thank you.

Dear unluckyduck,

You certainly were not an unluckyduck being assigned Suki and Peter to your tours. Two popular, knowledgeable, experienced guides! Glad that you enjoyed your time with them.
Good to see that you haggled a bit at the floating market and tried different tasty delights. No matter how great they are, a guide and a destination will always be able to do only so much. So it is great to see that you got into the spirit of things and enjoyed your experiences to the max!

Just to clarify, ending that tour at the world’s biggest gem and jewelry store is largest for logistical reasons. Being the end of the tour, you can spend 2minutes there and just change to another vehicle for the transfer back OR one can spend 2hours there and enjoy the facilities, (the complimentary drink, the cafe, the factory, the store and more) and then get transferred back (at no extra cost!)

Thanks for taking the time to write and hope that we’ll see you again in Bangkok.

Kind regards,

Christopher

A bit expensive but really worth it. We took a private tour to give us more flexibility and less waiting time. From Laem Chabang to Bankok it is about 2 hours driving. Our guide Poi was super informative and very helful. We saw so many beautiful places and temples, really worth it. Our private tour lasted for 10 hours and was extremely enjoyable. Fully recommend Tour East

The distance between Laem Chavengsak Port to Bangkok is not a small one, hence the additional expense, but so glad that you chose to visit Bangkok anyway and enjoyed your day!
Yes, a full day but it is worth it as Bangkok is not something you’re going to experience every day!!

Kind regards,

Christopher
