“Good, especially for the price”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

I stayed here three nights in February 2012. The room was of a good size, very adequately equipped, though the tv set was old (but fully functioning) with very few channels on it; and there is no dvd player. Everything was very clean.

This hotel must be one of the oldest in the area but it is well maintained. Everything works. And the staff are efficient, friendly and helpful and all have (at the least) adequate English.

It is not badly situated but not very close to the main tourist sites, unless you count the fleshpots of Patpong, which are within a few hundred yards.

A more than adequtae hotel at a fraction of the price some of the other multi-starred hotels in the area charge.

The old hotel's location on Surawongse near patpong. It is very busy night market and night clubs and cafes. During the day it's more quiet.
tawana ramada old hotel building, but very comfortable. Has a swimming pool behind the building and it is refreshing on a hot day of Bangkok. Breakfast for 15 $ is good but expensive for 3-4 stars hotel Bangkok.
This room was comfortable but not beyond that. I get a regular room but I know there are more deluxe rooms if you want to upgrade fee. The team is professional and helpful every problem. I think a good location if there is not enough. The hotel needs to be renewed occasionally. From here I go Pattaya Hotel Amari and I hope it will be better

Room Tip: pool side room

We stayed at the Tawana in 2009 and 2011. As other reviewers have written it is a bit dated but thats what gives it character. Cool old elevator, nice wood work every where. Rooms were large, comfy bed. Our room had a nice deck overlooking the pool area. The pool is decent size and clean and sun almost all day. If you upgrade to a executive room they are much more modern and no smoke smell with very comfy beds and pillow. I have found it difficult to fine good pillows just about anywhere in Thailand. Can't beat the location for shopping, food. Don't be afraid to try the street vendors making food. Yummy!

Stayed for 3 nights. The room was okay a bit dated, clean although the windows was very dirty. Bed comfortable but the pillows were hard as rocks. We could hear everything that happened in the halls, the staff was loud in the mornings when they started cleaning the rooms a 7.30. The breakfast buffet was good and all the staff was ready to assist you when you needed them. The wifi in the room didn´t always work and at 200 baht a day I excpect it to work by the pool and in the lobby.

Most of the staff is very friendly, accommodating and speak great English. Beds are comfortable, clean and mattresses in good shape. Room is fine for a traveler who is spending one or two nights. The swimming pool is beautiful, large and private. Buffet breakfast includes both Western and Asian, staff is very attentive and fills up your coffee cup constantly. Located on very busy street near great restaurants (highly recommend Mango Tree Restaurant) and Night Market. Also, next door is a good little noodle shop. We kept coming back to this hotel after our tours to Chiang Mai and Cambodia and it was like coming "home".

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the swimming pool. It is quiet.

Booked this one a bit last minute. Was a completely different experience to the Swissotel down the road - functional, a bit dated, very busy, grubby and expensive for what it is. Was disapointed with breakfast. Did not live up to the standard of other hotels on our Thailand trip (which were cheaper too)

The Tawana Bangkok is very well located in central Bangkok, a couple of blocks from the Night Market, lots of good restaurants, etc. The staff is very friendly, many speak English, and there is an extensive breakfast buffet with both Eastern and Western foods. The standard room is reasonably spacious and clean. There is a nice pool and pool bar.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher floor, less traffic noise.
