I stayed a few nights at the Eastin Makkasan as a part of tour. The hotel is very far from many tourist destinations like the Grand Palace and the River. So you have to allow for a good amount of travel time to get to these places, especially with the traffic in Bangkok. You also need to know how to navigate the trains or the buses to get around. It is probably better to use the trains so that you don't get caught in the road traffic. The metro stop is not too far away.

Some decent restaurants are nearby and there is, of course, a 7-11 on the corner. There are many food vendors and massage places down the street as well so you can pick up a snack or a meal or a massage easily without having to travel far.

The room was small, but tastefully decorated and there was a refrigerator and a hair dryer. The lighting and electric are all controlled through a console on the counter which was interesting and new to me. It was easy to set an alarm myself and I also had no trouble hanging some wet clothes in the shower to dry on the line.

The room was quiet and clean and the bed was very solid and it was nice to be able to use the room for a nap during the day, while I was jet-lagged, and not have to worry about any noise.

The breakfast was pretty expansive with hot and cold foods and drinks. The fruit selection was lovely and the dining room had a lot of windows allowing you to see outside all the traffic passing by.

Conveniently, there was a tourist office down in the lobby of the hotel where the price was reasonable and I managed to book a day tour to the floating market and other places.

Spacious, clean rooms, friendly service, good food. A great place to come home to after a day of sightseeing in Bangkok.

i stayed in hotel from 7th oct 2011 to 10th oct 2011. hotel is excellent and room quality, room service is also very good. but i expect options in breakfast for vegeterian also. We are from india so we look some indian vegeterian food also which was disappointing me. a lot of indian tourist were in that hotel so if hotel improve this service a bit it will be excellent for us. but i will prefer to stay in this hotel again.
