“Great little Chinese street restaurant”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

We were tempted in here after a long walk up Sukhumvit, and on spying the roast duck spit roasting out the front.

It's run by an elderly couple, who have obviously been here for years!

Don't expect chat, cleanliness, amazing service. So expect quick, tasty, cheap Chinese food!

Have low expectations and leave happy with a full belly!

“Excellent real Chinese food”
Reviewed 27 June 2013

Don't ask for pad Thai. This is a Chinese restaurant and a very very good one at that. Get the pork wan tons. You'll not be disappointed. Try not to look in the kitchen and if your a clean freak give it a miss. But if your a realist about what Asian kitchens are mostly like then ignore and you'll be delighted with the food! The most authentic place I've been in Thailand!

“Amazing food in Old Thailand”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

Do not expect lavish 5 star service or smart waiters pampering you with smile. You just be put to sit down in a seedy corner of Sukhumvit and the orders to the kitchen are given in the old trtadition i.e. shouting .....but wait. The food you will eatr will make up for the lack of detail as the tastes are sent from some corner in paradise. If you are able to keep up with that then this is the best restaurant ever. Bills are rounded up (in favour of the restaurant) but come on it is still dirt cheap in return for what you eat and compared to cold and expensive Europe.

“A must to go for lunch or dinner when you are in Bangkok”
Reviewed 29 May 2013

This restaurant I have been in many times during the last 35 years or so when I was visiting Bangkok. The amazing thing is that nothing has really changed it this place in those years. The owner of course is getting some older, but he is still there. The prices also have of course changed in those years, but absolutely not the quality of the food and the atmosphere. The interior of this restaurant is also more or less still the same, so are the tables and chairs, electricity switches, entrance doors etc. The duck is the best in Thailand, but also their fried Wan Tan, scallops and soups. If you need a romantic atmosphere with no street noise, this is indeed not your place, but if you like good authentic Chinese food and nostalgia give it a try. Real globetrotters won't regret it. Be aware also, that during lunchtime this place is crowded, and you might have to wait a while (on the street) to get a table. So go early.

“Authentic, noisy surrounding for Thai-Chinese meal”
Reviewed 4 April 2013

We - a group of four - were treated and served well. At the time of our meal the corner restaurant was not packed so we got a spacious table for six. The lady of the house handed over the menus (showing the same prices 160/300 THB for each item) and food came quickly. Everything was tasty though not super excellent. Service was good but not especially polite. Top points for the environment: open, noisy, dark, simple - exactly like a street side Chinese restaurant should be. The bill was what we expected it to be. - We just wonder how long this historical relic can stay in the middle of new new shiny buildings. Some pictures here: http://wp.me/p1jVlh-1gu
