terrible terrible hotel!! non-smile workers, bad bad attitude and lack the stuffs we need. I asked for one day pass for internet, the hotel router was bad so I had to kept log in n out during surfing. on the second day they told us they are out of one day pass n has only 15min and 60 min....and they can't think about any other way to help solving the problem. night time manager himself has a terrible attitude to customers...I won't suggest any one to stay in this hotel. I myself won't even consider this hotel at all!!!! be prepared if you are coming to stay.

Similar story to many of the other reviews on this hotel.

Good potential with reaonable size and clean rooms, nice pool, good breakfast and good value.

On the downside is the minor irritation that it is a little out of the city and this means a 100 baht taxi ride in every time you go, but more so the generally poor staff.

With the exception of the lady that runs breakfast and the guy that organises taxi's/luggage who were excellent, the rest are generally lacking in any awareness of customer service. Given we travelled with 2 under 5's this is so important and really the staff could not have been less interested.

Shame really as the actual place is pretty good but the staff are the ones that make the difference!

I am not complaining about the Holiday Garden View because of some cleanliness standards.
In fact it was clean and the pool was nice as well. I also do not complain about value. Given the price it was average, although there was no free wifi (which should be nowadays standard for a guesthouse in a heavy tourist area like Chiang Mai) and our bed was only slightly better than the sand floor in a hilltribe mountain village.
I am really complaining about the staff (with one exception).
In terms of friendliness and openness they are among the worst that I have experienced so far in Thailand (and that includes some of the heavy tourist places in Bangkok where farang behave like pigs and therefore probably also deserve no better). I can only hope that people experiencing this kind of behaviour travel further to the real Thailand where a smile is still a smile and you are still also viewed as a human being and not a dollar note on two legs that people despise but can not do without.

I have brought a group of graduate students and university staff to the Holiday Garden Hotel for the past four years and the experience has been so positive that we are returning for a fifth year. The best recommendation one can make about any hotel is returning year after year. We have always found the staff to be very accomodating, the breakfast plentiful, the value excellent and the location fine. The pool, restaurant, rooms and related facilities were all highly acceptable. We experienced absolutely no problems.
