We stayed 11 nights in a suite on the 16th floor which was very nice and clean and comfortably spacious. The floors were hardwood or faux hardwood (which we preferred over carpet); furniture and decor were attractive. The bathrooms were nice tile. We really like the shower with the extra nice "rain shower" nozzle. Each day we got a new plate of fresh fruit and daily cleaning. We appreciated the laundry and ironing service which we were reasonably priced. The staff were all attentive and helpful. We had breakfast each morning in the on-site cafe. We attended meetings in the lovely teakwood Petcharat room on the 3rd floor. The Empress Hotel was conveniently located and tuk tuks and red song taos were just a very short walking distance-- ready to take us just about anywhere in Chiang Mai for a reasonable price. We really enjoyed our stay at the Empress Hotel.

Room tip: We were in a suite, combined rooms 1603 and 1605.

Stayed at the Empress for 3 days in October with a friend as part of a 2 week trip to Thailand. This was one of our favourite hotels we stayed in - the staff were always friendly and helpful, the hotel itself had lovely authentic Thai decor alongside modern amenities and the breakfast offered us a large choice of both Western and Asian cuisine. The location of the hotel was good and we found it easy and cheap to get tuk tuks from right outside the hotel to get around. Pool area is also decent so we found the hotel had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend staying here!

This hotel is just amazing. It is located in the city, close to the night market. The staff's service and hospitality is beyond any expectation. You can see and feel it in every corner of the hotel. We were upgraded to a deluxe room. Then, a large plate of most delicious fruits was brought to our room. A few hours later a box with plenty biscuits and snacks was delivered to us. This is just incredible. Besides this, the room is very comfortable and spacious, the pool is amazing, breakfast was very good and overall the hotel gives you a great feel of tranquility and hospitality. It is unbelievable that you get all of this for such a relatively low price. Would love to be back again.

We visited this hotel in the beginning of our honeymoon vacation in Thailand and it was a great plasure for us. The hotel is located very close to the night market and the city center and the staff is extraordinary helpful & polite. We have got, two times, "an honeymoon chocolate packages" and it was a great surprise. Undoubtly, recommanded!

Everyone was so nice from check-in to maintenance (we had an air conditioning problem - and it was taken care of promptly). There was some delicious fruit waiting in our room which was great. The breakfast buffet was great as was the service. It was within walking distance of the night market and wonderful places ftor massages. If you needed a tuk-tuk or a little truck , one always arrived in minutes. We ended our stay by eating a light meal in the little area beside the bar. The service there was beyond great. We all received a desert and a going a way present free.

Room tip: I was with a group - so I have no idea what we paid - I just know it was inexpensive compared to prices in the USA.
