My husband and I highly recommend the "Care for Elephants" program to build close relationships with a few sweet pachyderms for a day. The guide, who preferred to be known as Adam Lavigne, was very knowledgable about the Nature Park as a whole and the lives of the hundreds of animals this rescue park cares for. We were in a group of 5 other visitors to feed, hike, and bathe two female elephants and a young male. We had snacks of fruit and veggies to share with our new sweet friends, and they were more than happy to ask for more with a tap on the arm from their trunks. The lunch provided was gracious and the view on the hillside overlooked the forest. A truly memorable experience- we cannot wait to go back and spend more than a day!

We spent an amazing day in late November 2017 with our wonderful guide, Bancha, and got to spend extended quality time with a group of elephants. Enjoying up close time with the park's elephants was something we'll never forget. The grounds were also beautiful as we trekked from the elephant compound along a trail by the river, had a wonderful vegetarian lunch and got into the river with these marvelous creatures. Our trip was highlighted by having Lucky, a rambunctious 6-month old, with us. This is an absolute must do for animal lovers visiting Chiang Mai. You'll learn of all the wonderful, noble things the preserve does, and never ride an elephant again after you hear of the abuses elephants suffer through at the hands of commercial exploiters. Even if you can't visit personally, animal lovers should consider making donations to this excellent cause.

Do you like elephants, for real? Here you will see them the way nature wants them, happy. At least most of them, those that the founder was able to get to, and give life back to. Do you want to listen to real stories of Saza, Pookie and JungleBoy? Do you want to see life through the eyes of Hope and Lucky? Do you want to feel close to these beautiful creatures, in absolute respect? Then this is the place for you.

Our "handsome and funny" guide, Su, made this experience unique, entertaining, passionate, emotional, challenging. He deserves the praises for our renewed sensitivity to wild life and awareness for elephants conditions around the globe. On a more practical note, he went above and beyond by dealing with my forgetfulness, as I left my favorite jacket to the Sanctuary and he was so kind to look for it and return it to my hotel two days later. Thank you for this kind gesture and all you attention and professionalism.

A must! I would give this place a higher rating if I could. The park is genuinely such a special place where the animals are all treated so well. Not only do you get to be right next to so many of the elephants, you also get to learn how unique they all are - their personalities, which elephants like to hang out together and which ones don’t get along, what they like to eat...basically how they are sooooo much like humans in so many respects. Left with a huge smile on my face :))))))))))))
