we were very happy to chose the mandala house, because the rooms were very nice and extraordinary furnished, but not so big. the bathroom was also small but nice with hot water and extraordinary toilet. everything was very clean and in a good european standard. our room had aircondition and in the roomrate a breakfast from the menu card was included, which was in a good average. the small half openair restaurant was also furnished very well and on the side there was a big artficial waterfall, which spended fresh cool air the whole day. the staff was very freindly and helpful in any case and they gave us some golden tipps to explore the town. at night the hotel is quiet and we felt every everytime in a good sleep. very close to the inner circle of the old town and all the temples the mandala house made a perfect cultural more days stay in chiang mai for us and we can recomment it very warm.

The guest house is well located just a short distance from the walled city. The room I stayed in was large but still appeared to be unfinished and there were electrical wires running down the hall in front of the room. There is a new pool across the street but few lounge chairs and no towels. When I asked the front desk for some I was told to use room towels even though these had already been used and was only reluctantly provided with additional towels. Service seemed indifferent. Hotel was difficult to find as there were few signs from major streets.

We checked in at Mandala House around mid December 2012 for 2 nights. We were very pleased with the room we got: modern, comfy bed, balcony. The service was excellent, staff was helpful and breakfast was very good. This hotel is great for single travellers or families. Well located, close to everything but also quiet at night so you can get a good night of sleep. Great place!

Quickest check in ever - in my room in minutes. The hotel is really modern with great decor - very different to most Thai hotels which are more traditional. Everything you need is in your room - TV, safe, fridge. Staff all really friendly and they all work really hard at breakfast getting everyone served quickly. I had the rice soup which was great but there are other Western choices for those more traditional guests. Great hotel.

We are a family of 4. We stayed in this hotel based on the feedback on trip advisor.

The check in was curt.. And the room 203 that we were allocated had bad odour. The bathroom had blackened grouting and the ceiling had a fungus like experience. When we requested a change of room- we were told that the rooms are occupied. Even the bedsheets were dirty. We had to request a change of linen.

The breakfast is good. The thai portidge breakfast is good. But charging 150 baht for a six year old is steep.

For the price we did not expect luxury. But we definitely expected a clean place.

We were laye for our train. The manager personally went out his way to organise a taxi.. At a short notice. I sincerely thank him for the same.

The location is close to the old city.. And there are laundry services close by. That is a definite plus.

Overall service is adequate. Room and environment is underwhelming.

I wii definitely search for a better place next time.

Really enjoyed my stay at Mandala house. Really friendly staff, great location walking distance from all the main central attractions and night bizarre. Room was clean, comfy beds and good value. Good breakfast and would definitely stay there again.

I live in Chiang Rai and visit Chiang Mai quite frequently. I have stayed at over 20 places in CM trying out different guest houses, hotels and resorts and have finally decided this place is a gem. My one complaint would be that parking for cars can be really difficult but if you walk or come by motorcycle or taxi, that isn't an issue for you. When I was there in early Nov, 2012 the swimming pool was open and after a 3 hr long, hot motorcycle ride, it was a great way to cool off. The second building was also just being finished and some of the rooms were open but I stayed in the older building. However, the room was spotlessly clean and although it was on the road, I didn't hear any traffic. The thing that did wake me up were the other travelers eating breakfast so maybe it is best not to get a room directly over the breakfast area if you are a late sleeper. Breakfast was fine but certainly not spectacular but for the price, it was about right. If I remember it was around 850 baht. The staff has always been friendly so no problems there and as many have mentioned before, the location is fantastic.
