I should start this review that we got a very good deal through agoda.com on a deluxe suite room (< $200 US), which is much less than the list price. It seems that most people get a cheaper price but this review is written with that price in mind (I curve my reviews based on the price).

With that said the two things that really stand out about this place was the beautiful room and the friendly staff. The deluxe suite was a great way to spend our honeymoon trip. The room is very large and airy, comprising two rooms, a balcony, and a spacious tub. Also, the staff were all very friendly and personal. The woman who we emailed with the most made the effort to introduce herself to us. We also received a chocolate cake in our room for the first night as a honeymoon gift - always a nice surprise!

This place is not perfect, but we could overlook it for the quality of the room and price. Firstly, the location is a bit out of the way and you will be taking a tuk tuk everywhere. More importantly, this is not a resort hotel. There is a beautiful pool but few people use it and it didn't feel conducive to "laying out." However, we didn't mind spending all the time in our nice room.

Overall if you can book this on a discount site this is a great value place at a small boutique hotel.

Positive:
+ Quiet athmosphere
+ Very good price-value-ratio (we paid ca. 3500 BHT incl. breakfast)
+ Nice and friendly staff
+ Huge rooms and pool
+ Within walking distance to city centre

Negative:
- We walked in a day before (we were already in Chiang Mai) and asked the manager for the best rate incl. late booking discount - that was 40% more than the best rate found online!
- Gym was too hot and humid - no good condition for a workout
- Not enough sunchairs at the pool (only 18) - when you are late (after 11 a.m.) you don't get a sunchair anymore

We stayed three nights at Ratilanna Riverside and wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was absolutely lovely; probably the prettiest place we've ever stayed. The hotel staff was warm and welcoming, couldn't recommend more highly. Stay here if you can! It makes the rest of Chiang Mai all the better.

I see a lot of compliment then I chose this hotel for my trip in Chiangmai.

The hotel is quite far from night barzar and cannot walk there. You have to pay for the shuttle service anytime you'd like to go out becuase you cannot walk to any places near by. It's quite far from any other places in town.

Staff was trying very much to serve but it's below five stars standard procedure from my experiences. The property is great but the service standard and amenity.

This hotel is good in hardware but lack in software of management. Staff is good but no experience to serve. Room is nice but not clean enough. Staff English is lower standard than the five stars hotel. Polite but not professional.

Next time, I will add some budgeting and stay in other hotels. There are a lot of hotels in Chiangmai.

Our trip to Chiang Mai could have only been better if we had more time to stay and just relax at the Ratilana. We loved this hotel. The rooms were large and airy with lovely balconies where you could sit on the day bed and admire the river or pool. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was delicious, and the pool was beautiful. The drinks could have been a little stronger!

My husband and I visited with my sister and her boyfriend from the US. During our time there, the boyfriend decided to propose! The Ratilana were so helpful in assisting him to make it a memorable evening. They set up a private dinner on the lawn overlooking the river and arranged for a short boat trip. They placed roses on the boat, at the dinner table, and in their room. I'm sure she would have said yes without all of the Ratilana assistance, but it definitely helped!!
