Hide away from busy street outside where you can relax and enjoy special dishes from heaven. If you don’t mind local and original taste, you must try! All the dishes are well-cooked and prepared. With the peaceful and well decorated of Thai Lanna style, there is nowhere to just perfect alike here - Le Grand.

Why? Front row seats to the dance show which starts at 8 pm and (hopefully) less mosquitoes. Mango sticky rice was a standout. Enjoyed the pork skewers too.

We pre booked this place for my birthday meal, from the moment we got here the staff were fantastic.

There is a traditional Thai show from 8-9. The food was delicious we had a mix of starters, Mains and sides and 4 drinks and was 1900bht. The setting of the restaurant is amazing and would recommend for a treat meal in Chiang Mai.

Be aware the restaurant is open air and you need to have put on bug spray.

I discovered this nice restaurant while staying at the FABULOUS Dhara Dhevi resort....which btw I’ve separately reviewed too :-)

The restaurant scores well on all important aspects- TASTE, PRESENTATION, SERVICE and AMBIENCE.

The tiger prawns were easily one of the best I’ve had in Thailand as well as back home in Hong Kong.

The platter was also quite good, especially the four sauces that came with it. I said to myself - this mixed platter should be called “land and ocean platter” because while there were chicken and pork (land) in it....there also were prawn and fish (ocean) . And these different meats weren’t just thrown in together.... they came with their own individual sauces which helped amplify their individual tastes.

The bar looked quite well stocked and the cocktails were quite good. The bartender knew his stuff well.

The staff were very courteous and service was quite good

The ambience was excellent.... full of historical architecture not just inside the restaurant but also the rest of the Dhara Dhevi resort.

Good thing the restaurant is right there inside the resort otherwise a lazy one like me couldn’t have found it outside in the town .... and that would’ve certainly been a big miss!

This restaurant is about 40 mins drive from down town Chiang Mai. As most of the dining areas are not air conditioned, pls remember to spray the insect repellent to ward off the mosquitoes. We had the following : deep-fried prawn rolls with plum sauce, deep-fried fish cake. Coconut milk soup with chicken and straw mushrooms, green curry with pork, stir-fried snapper slices with sweet and sour sauce. Spicy glass noodles with minced pork, stirred fried kale leaves. Dessert was water chestnut rubies in sweet coconut milk. Overall an excellent experience and you should make advanced bookings instead of walking in.
