I swung into the De Naga coffee shop on a whim as it clearly advertised free wifi (my own Amora hotel does not) & to recover from an appalling 'oil & garlic' meal experience at the hands of 'John's Place'. The lovely & attentive Nok served us perfect coffee from the magnificent ferrari red Sanremo coffee machine & a sublime cake experience whilst also singing the praises of the De Naga boutique hotel. Smart & a credit to the hotel. We returned later for another coffee & delicious cake & booked for dinner in the restaurant. The food served there was excellent & it surpassed everything we had consumed in Chaing Mai up to that point. The waiter even clambered into a tree to pluck a scented flower for my partner. I have tried the coffee shop (5*), restaurant (5*) & will choose the De Naga as my hotel for my next visit in anticipation of another 5* experience. Just lovely.

we have already been here 4 y ago and we had a very good time. that's why we came back this y but the situation has changed a lot, big worsening: no airport shattle, no minibar included, room very noisy, no light maintenance. we asked for sime sugar and it arrived the day after. bad wifi connection in the room. the final surprise was that we payed 100 bath for a mud dirty tawel, that we cleaned in another hotel just with water, perfectly cleaned and white!!! i think this behaviour is disgusting. next time we go to chiang mai we go for another hotel!

We stayed here for 6 nights through a deal when we purchased our air ticket. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived our first night, it has lovely architecture and Thai design features. Our room was large and very clean, with a huge bathroom / dressing room. We had a problem one night with our air conditioning which was immediately attended to (even though it was 11.30Pm) The staff were always very friendly & helpful. We loved the breakfast which had a wide assortment of different dishes, with the hot dishes changing every morning - loved their home made muesli, yoghurt, jams and pastries. There was more than enough variety of food here, even for vegetarians like ourselves. although the pool was small it was more than enough to cool off in, there could have been more outside areas to just sit around in, but the foyer area is also lovely. Great location just near Tha Phae gate, and Sunday markets, we walked to Saturday night markets & we hired bicycles and rode around the old city. Free Wifi was great to have in rooms. Overall we had a lovely stay and really appreciate the good, friendly service.

Not as good as you could think by reading Tripadv reviews. We spent a couple of nights and the room was ok but dirty, with mosquitoes, and some lights didnt work. Moreover, they had just cleaned their water deposit and we didnt have clean water to have a shower (we realised when we saw the dark water in the bathtub). The breakfast is ok but repetitive. Good location, 15 minutes walk to night market. The tours guy was really charming.

We paid US $120 with breakfast for a premier deluxe room

Pros
Great position right in the middle of all the action but nice and quiet
Lots of character - interesting room
Good bedding but a little on the firm side
Great breakfast with lots of choice - lovely sitting outside to eat
Beautiful foyer with free internet

Cons
Gorgeous, but ridiculously small pool with only lounges for 10 people so almost impossible to get a spot by the pool
The noise from the pool carries to some of the rooms
Reception staff friendly but have very limited English making any request out of the ordinary difficult to convey
We had a room with an interconnecting door so could hear everything our neighbours said and did very clearly - could be uncomfortable :(

Lovely for a short stay but all a bit claustrophobic for a long term one.
Better options nearby for the same money
