“Thailand's best kept secret!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2012

The Village Coconut Island is definitely the place to stay in Phuket! The resort is absolutely stunning and the staff go above and beyond the call of duty to make your stay that little bit more special. The quality of accommodation is second to none and is finished to the highest western standards, but still manages to keep true to it's Thai design. Staying on an Island did worry me slightly to begin with, but the water taxi runs every half hour so you are never too far away from all the attractions of Phuket, but always far enough away to forget about them and relax. The food on the Island is fantastic, and the views over the bay are stunning. This is a resort that you could visit time and time again and still want to come back

Dear Steven,
Thanks for taking the time to submit such a wonderful review for us here on Trip Advisor.
We are so pleased that you enjoyed the resort, accommodation and location so much. Like you say, it is one of Phuket's little secrets.

I am particularly pleased that you recognise the quality and beauty of our resort. As you say, there are so many benefits of being on a small island so close to Phuket. With the regular water taxi, you really can get the best of both worlds.
Thanks once again and we hope to see you here agin in the future.

Tropical Regards

Recently we stayed at a 2 bedroom villa for 8 nights. Our stay was very enjoyable, the staff were very helpful and friendly occasionally they lacked some English skills but they made up for it with their friendly smiles and attitude. The facilities were excellent especially the water slides and the pools which provided us with hours of entertainment. The restaurants provided very high standard of food and service as well us good value for money. I would rate the stay as 9 out 10
the Thai Massage was exceptional , we came out blurry eyed and totally relaxed. The villa was very well fitted out and comfortable with no maintenance issues to speak of. Perfect place for a relaxed holiday,if you want some hustle and bustle you can always travel to Pa Tong beach which is only about 30 minutes away by Taxi and costs about 1000baht for a return trip about $33.00. As to generator noise and pushy sales people ,we did not find the generator noise obtrusive and we were not subjected to any hi pressure sales pitches.Obviously you cant please everyone all the time.

Room Tip: Choose a 2 bedroom villa or larger.

Dear Andrew,

I would like to Thank You for taking the time to review The Village Coconut Island.

I am thrilled that you enjoyed the swimming pools and water slides so much, they are so much fun. Equally we are pleased that you rated the accommodation so highly. We took a lot of time and effort to ensure that they were just right in terms of size, space and quality.

Food is very important to everyone, the fact that you enjoyed our food so much is a real compliment, I have passed your praise on to all our staff. They do try their best and when they are recognised, it makes it all worthwhile.

The Thai massage is a very special experience, it sound like you would agree.

Thanks also for recognizing that there was not a huge presence of sales staff in your face. We do give our guests the opportunity to buy into their fantastic holiday experience and invest in their lifestyle, but we certainly do not want to pressurise anyone.

As you say, we do have to run generators to supply our own electricity, a small downside when compared to the delights of being on a unspoiled island location.

Thanks once again, we all look forward to hopefully seeing you again in the future.

Tropical Regards

There is so much to write about this place I don't know where to start.
From beginning to end we were treated by all staff like we were kings! Dan (one of the manager's) went beyond any expectations and really gave us personal attention and went out of his way to make our stay the MOST memorable and brilliant experience. I am so grateful for all that he did and how personable he was. I even left my pram at the airport and he offered to personally go and pick it up! The next day it was delivered to the door of our villa! Amazing.
The location is idyllic. The ferry trip to the island was short and well organised. We never had to wait.
The accommodation was better than we even expected. The breakfast buffet was really good and has the most stunning and welcoming setting right on the beach, decor bright, modern and looks like something out of a Home Beautiful magazine.
The pizza restaurant served the best pizza I've tasted.
The waterslide is a big hit with kids and adults alike. Brilliant addition.
Pools were all great. Free watersport facilities a plus.
The view from around the island esp. sea view villas with own infinity pool just took our breath away. I didn't know places like this existed and I am so glad we were able to experience it.
Would love to be back there now actually.
We took our 9mth old and our 2.5yr old and staff did everything they could for us. They all love kids and would always stop and smile and loved interacting with our kids.
The kids club was again a friendly experience, well set out and staff super attentive to the kids.
The spa was a haven, although next time I'd get a pampering oil massage rather than a Thai one! They can be very firm but this is to be expected everywhere in Thailand.
Couldn't rate this place more highly. We were so unsure what to expect before we left Australia after reading all the reviews. We realised after arriving to this resort that the negative reviews are from negative people who just can't be satisfied and obviously don't travel enough.
This place is an experience.

Room Tip: 3 brm Seaview villas with infinity pool. So amazing it's ridiculous. Bigger than your average ho...

Dear Alisa,

I would like to Thank You for your wonderful review of our resort. We are delighted that you and your family enjoyed it so much.
I would agree that sometimes when reading reviews, one can be concerned at some of the comments, luckily for you ( and us) you have discovered the reality!!

First of all, Dan is delighted that he had such a positive impact on your holiday. He works hard to ensure that all our guests have the best experience possible. It is really encouraging to be recognised, thank you.

Like you, we believe that the location is exceptional. The short 5 minute trip on the water taxi really does add an element of excitement. This is made even better by the fact that you found our water taxi service efficient.

We are very proud of our restaurants, in particular the beach "Tamarind" restaurant. The setting is wonderful, with the ocean lapping up the beach as one enjoys our delightful breakfasts. The pizzas do have a fine reputation in Phuket and are alleged to be the best!!

The water slides and kids club are a big hit and as you say really help to keep the children entertained for hours. The staff do adore the children and really enjoy seeing them having a great time.

We are all so pleased that you enjoyed your stay here and hope that we will have the pleasure of your company again in the future.

Tropical Regards

We had a great offer and really enjoyed our stay here. It was a little quiet, but it is the off season, and some people might like it quiet. We had young children, and found the entertainment a little light on. The restaurants were great and the addition of the third restaurant should add great variety. We really enjoyed having our own pool as well as the water slide, overall a great time was had.

The Village, Coconut island is a new development built in collabroation with Phuket local authority, employees local english speaking stay and maintain high western standards, we stayed in a beach front villa that was excellent value and very romantic, getting on and off the island can be fun either by tuck tuck or speedboat depending on the tides.
about 25 mins away from Patong so can go to the crazieness if you want but if you are there for a relaxing, romantic peaceful time you will definatly get it.

Room Tip: book early to get a good deal.

After two crazy weeks on the West coast of Phuket , a week at the village on coconut island was perfect. We stayed in a two bedroom pool villa which was very spacious and beautifully appointed, Housekeeping were wonderful and were more than happy to work around times that suited us.
The Kids (miss 10 and miss 15) and my husband loved the waterslides and the main pools and spent hours trekking up and sliding down only to come back to the villa and float around in our own pool
We took a taxi from the pier intoTesco to stock the fridge and cupboards, all that watersliding builds up a large appetite! we used the shop on the island for milk and ice creams as well as anything else we ran out of.
The pizza from the Deli was definitley the best we had whilst in Thialand, oh and do not miss the seafood buffet at the front restaurant it was amazing. The happy hour cocktails at the bar on the beach were beautiful and the setting is just postcard perfect.
We attended the drinks and nibbles hour hosted by the guest relations team,Chris , Andrew and Paul, not only was the wine and company fantastic so was their knowledge of the area . We had a couple of awesome day trips thanks to their reccomendations, they are certianly an asset to the island.
All this set in paradise ! what more could you ask for?

Overall we had a great stay here.

There are some issues which need to be dealt with but overall we were really happy with our 6 day stay.

We stayed in beachfront 2 bed villa with our own pool. Two storey villa with one double and one twin room. Cleaned daily although no turn-down service which we have found the norm in other comparable Thai resorts, that said I don't necessarily think thats a bad thing as we always find staff want to come in as we're getting ready to go out for the evening! We stayed by our pool mostly so saw the maid every day - her English was to an acceptable standard and she always asked firstly if it was OK to clean our villa and then when she had finished whether there was anything else she could do.

It was great being able to buy beers & snacks from the supermarket and nip in to our villa for a cold beer from the fridge when we fancied it. It wasn't that expensive - 70 baht for a can of beer or 35 baht for a tonic water/soft drink - probably double the price of supermarkets in Phuket/Patong but what do you expect?

We did have the odd power outage but never more than 5 mins and didnt cause us any inconvenience. Likewise, our telephone didnt work but we only found this out on the last day when we called to request someone to come for our luggage - reception knew we were trying to contact them and that we were checking out so intuitively sent a bellboy to collect the luggage so no harm done there!!

Food was very good at both restaurants and they allowed you to order from the other restaurants' menu if there was nothing you wanted. Only complaint on the food front was that although there was a good selection at breakfast all the meat/fruits etc were uncovered and this attracted insects/flies - this could be easily fixed. At the bar, strangely happy hour was rarely a full hour - even when challenged one evening after only 40 minutes the staff insisted happy hour was finished!

As far as the location is concerned - people who complain about this haven't done their research properly - before we booked The Village we knew it was an island and how far it was away from the town and that was part of the attraction - not everyone likes the bright lights of Phuket/Patong.

We visited the restaurant on Laem Hin pier twice and loved it both times - the staff there were really helpful, spoke great English and prices were reasonable.

Sort out some of the finer points and this will be a fantastic resort to stay at.
