This is a long overdue review. I stayed here with my parents while vacationing a year ago, and I have only positive things to say.
First, the hotel is situated in the heart of the chaos of Hanoi. To get the full experience of stepping out into the life of the city, stay here.
Second, I spent weeks agonizing over what Halong tour to take, reading all the online reviews. Finally, I decided to entrust the staff here to book my reservation, and they managed all the aspects of a wonderful cruise on Bhaya cruises. So many things could have gone with weather and other communication issues--it was nice to not have one addition thing to worry about for a four week trip.
Third, we arranged pickup from the airport--well worth the additional fee. When we arrived, we were surprised with an upgrade to a junior suite. We had booked the deluxe. Having stayed in both rooms, I would book the junior suite the next time around for certain.
The morning buffet had comfort food for both my Vietnamese parents as well as my American partner. A very good buffet.
This hotel is great value for the money, and the staff were wonderful. Hanoi is chaotic like heck--the folks here can really help control that chaos so you can have a wonderful time enjoying this great city.
Despite the option to stay at larger hotels, I would stay here again if I return to Hanoi. You can't beat the energy that surrounds it. Why come to Hanoi if you don't want to be immersed in the heart of the old city.
