We have been on the Valentine for two nights and enjoyed it a lot! We learned that with most cruises you need to change boat for the second night, but we didn’t have to do that with this cruise.
We loved to have a relaxed program and not to have to drive back to the harbor again. Instead we could sleep among the many beautiful islands, fish squid in the evening (and our lovely guide Bella could catch one, even though it is not the season!)
We enjoyed to go to Lagoon Cave, and the Surprising Cave on the first day, then visit a pearl farm, kayaking around a floating village and a trip to Ti Top mountain followed by a cooling dip in the ocean on the second day.
The food was absolutely delishous and the crew super friendly. Our children (6 and 9) were allowed to go see the quarterdeck and visit the captain!

Would definately recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys a quiet time among the islands (unless you end up sleeping next to one pf those partyboats who play loud music or do karaoke..!) We loved to be alone on the boat together with its great staff.

We spent two nights on the boat touring Halong Bay. The timings and visits were very well organised and the boat crew were organised and friendly. The rooms were spacious and clean (single beds) and the food absolutely lovely- and plenty of it too! Despite us being part of a very noisy group of 14, they were very tolerant and accommodating around late night drinking and loud voices..... They also provided free cooking classes and early morning Tao Chi. Only negative comments would be that there is no WiFi, but not sure if thats at all possible in Halong Bay and that the area we visited represented only about 10% of the bay area, but think that relates to the fact the the boating company has to buy different permits to visit different parts of the bay, so they stick to one permit per trip....

The staff at Indochina Sails could not have been more lovely! Whether telling me how to say 'thank you' properly in Vietnamese, recommending wine or showing us round the wonderful sites of Halong Bay. The room was comfortable and roomy and they were absolute stars when they realised we were vegetarians (our hotel was meant to have told them in advance!), ensuring we got a delicious specially made menu for the set meals.

Our only criticism, which isn't really a criticism of the company itself, was a lack of people around our age to chat to, but all the other fellow travellers were lovely couples!

Top thing to do and would definitely recommend for a chilled part of a Vietnam trip! :)

Firstly, let me say that, as a honeymoon option, this boat was fantastic. The room was spacious and positively decadent compared with other trips I've been on. I expected a poky wetroom, but we had a large bathroom with huge waterfall shower.

The communal areas were equally as pleasant and comfortable, and the desk would have been lovely had the weather been better (it was foggy and a bit drizzly, but that didn't stop us enjoying the stunning scenery!).

We opted for the two-night option as we felt the overnight programme looked a little rushed, with less than 24 hours on board. This suited us and we were glad for the extra time. However, it's worth noting that if you opt for the two-night trip, you spend the second day on a smaller day boat, while the main junk heads back to Ha Long City to return the overnight passengers and pick up another load. This smaller boat is nowhere near as luxurious as the main junk and the food was not as good. We had a pleasant day seeing monkeys on one island, visiting a pearl farm and a spot of kayaking through a fishing village. Once you return to the main boat, the programme is the same as the night before, and you spend the second night at the same anchoring point. This was a little disappointing, as, being on a longer trip, we'd hoped to be visiting some quieter spots, beyond the reach of the day trippers, and explore less travelled bits of the bay. In reality, you are surrounded by another 20-30 junks both nights.

To return to the evening programme, this consisted of a cooking demonstration, dinner, 'squid fishing' and 'happy hour' (9-11pm) both nights. The cooking demonstration was pleasant but somewhat underwhelming. Dinner was lovely both nights, with plenty of choice. Squid fishing was a fruitless task and we gave up after 10 minutes.Happy hour was welcome as drinks were rather pricey, but aside from a few board games (Chess, scrabble or cards) there was little to keep you up drinking in the bar. Both nights we were the only couple left up at 9.30pm. Needless to say this is not a party boat. This will suit a lot of people, and most of the clientelle were 55+, but for two 30 year olds, we do enjoy a bit more atmosphere.

Overall it was a great experience. Very relaxing and aboard a stunning boat. The staff were incredibly attentive and couldn't do enough. Just a few points to consider before you shell out as it isn't a cheap trip!

We appreciate very much your comments with regards to every single section that you've mentioned. It's a pleasure to learn that you were happy with our service.
