We stayed at Hanoi Hostal for several nights (and actually longer than originally intended). It became our base in Hanoi while doing day and overnight trips in the region. We first arrived there after an overnight flight from Germany and were nicely received with a great vietnamese coffee and fresh fruits. The hostal is clean and the location is perfect: It's very centric but at the same time just a corner away from the really noisy city life. Particularly the reception lady Mai is a very friendly and open person who has the talent to make you feel at home immediately. She booked several trips, plane and train tickets for us and was great in giving helpful recommendations about what to visit. Clear recommendation!

We really liked the Hostel. The customer service is excellent, the staff are very attentive and helpful. The location is great, on the edge of the lake and close to the sights. The room is nice, spacious and clean. The bathroom is good clean and the shower works well, with hot water. The entrance to the Hostel is not very attractive, it is a corridor with establishments in the background. But this type of entrance is common in the city.

Location only a stones throw from the lake - hidden in a quiet alley off the edge of the lake. Helpful owner and basic breakfast provided for $2. Place a little dated but overall comfy beds, a fairly peaceful nights sleep at a reasonable price and location more than makes up for that! Wifi, bottled water and chocolate bars on arrival to room also - just what we needed after a long flight! Cheap local shop nearby (Intimex) to buy food/water - cheaper than tourist shops (Circle K etc.)

Room Tip: Top room 501 quiet
