The show emerges life style of the rural area living style in the past, how they catch fish, planting water rice, or doing argriculture work at the rice fields. It is funny telling you story by artists soaking themselves in the water adjusting the puppets moves.

Fantastic experience and a must do when in Hanoi!

Very well performed and choreographed!

Actors doing the puppets are very talented alongside the musicians supporting them!

Thang Long Water Puppet Theater is one of the best cultural expressions of Vietnam. And it's not about being impressive, it's about understanding the culture, the attachment of the society with water and the music as a story telling mechanism. Some people say it's kind of a mediocre as a show, but the play and the Cheo music is there to narrate what is the daily life of a countryside Vietnam society. Daily life is often mediocre – and that is the beauty of it.

We really enjoyed the show, even though nothing was in English. They should perhaps have a flyer with a bit more information in English. But we thoroughly enjoyed it, as did a number of enthralled little kids sitting near us.
