My husband wanted to visit the tunnels for ages. He wasn't disappointed. It was approximately 90 minutes drive from Saigon. Our guide was excellent. There's lots of information along with displays and the chance to go through a section of tunnel if you wish. It was fascinating to see. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Saigon.

In addition to seeing all the armament used by all sides during the Vietnam War, those that wanted to could purchase ammunition to shoot around five different rifles.

An iconic piece of Vietnam War history. So much to see and a lot of interactive things. I would advise you get a proper tour guide or you will miss things. Crawl through a section of the tunnel and try your hand at firing an AK-47. Worth every dong of the tiny entrance fee.

I’m not going to weigh in on right or wrong with respct to the Vietnam War…what most people agree on is that the US was trying to stop the spread of communism. Ho chi Minh had the devotion/support of the foramers and thery were the core constituency of the VC. Back when the French attached Vietnam local farmers had dug out bomb shelters underground. The VC expanded that concept during the Vietnam war, builiding extensive underground networks that could be used to accomplish every need required to fight a war….including the births of 6000 children! The Cu Chi site documents the tunnel lifestyle, which is pretty hard to believe when you hear it. You can climb down into a short section of the the tunnel. If you’re claustrophobic, in bad shape, can’t bend over, or “oversized” (like me), you probably want to give the tunnel crawl a pass. At the end of the tour there is a rifle range where you can blow some cast shooting VW-era hardware (so much a bullet, 10 bullet minimum). The nose associated with this activity may be upsetting to some (it ain’t quiet). The overall experience should be good for kids, wandering around the jungle and climbing down holes…..they don’t need to understand the politics behind the history. Recommended.
