We have lived and traveled to Ho Chi Minh city and Vietnamese several times. When in VN we usually stay at the Rex. The last time we were here we stayed in the Presidential suite there. This time we wanted to try a local apartment rental and choose the Lafayette De Saigon. We both love the modern decor and kitchen. We had a two bedroom two bath apartment with very nice views at a fraction of the cost of the suite at the Rex. Very good security and they always have a guard/doorman out front to hail a can if needed as well as opening the car doors and lobby door. Though we rented for almost two weeks we left our stuff behind and headed south to Vinh Long for a few days as the rate is very reasonable. Though it is a 25-30 min walk and not sure it would walk it late at night the cab fare was about $1.50 to $2 USD, why walk? Cabs in Ho Chi Minh are clean and the drivers keep there cars clean. The cab companies, like Vina all have drivers that wear white button down collared shirts and red ties and all for pennies a ride. We usually tipped 50-100% of the fare as the drivers are calm and professional. I digress. The kitchen at the Lafayette I'd very nicely equipped with Grohe faucets and Bosch cooktop and clothes washer/dryer and stainless steel refrigerator. All marble bathrooms one with a tub. No complaints aside that we were here for Tet and the cleaning staff was off for 3 days, but that's not a big deal. The staff supplied us with towels and trash bags and since we are adults cleaning up after ourselves is no big deal. When they are on, they will wash your dishes and put them away. I would stay here anytime and is perfect for extended stays as well. Also, must mention the WiFi is very fast and stable, faster then my cable internet at home or at work. Wish I could live here!More
