We organized our visit half day visit to Cu Chi Tunnels through the hotel we stayed in. At 1 pm, Mr Tai was there with the coach bus for a party of 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids). We started off late due to the need to have a proper change of clothes and footwear but Mr Tai was very patient. During the bus ride, he was able to tell us about the history of Vietnam, the different wars they suffered and how this has impacted the country. He was able to answer our queries very thoroughly as well.
Prior to Cu Chi Tunnels, we had a quick stop at a factory making lacquer products and other handicrafts made by victims who were affected "Dioxin" during the "Agent Orange" campaign during the Vietnam war. When we arrived at the Tunnels, we arranged for the tour tickets and walked us through the different sites with explanations. He did not rush us but let us have the needed time. But what we appreciated most from Mr Tai, was how he worked with our young kids. He played with them and joked throughout the visit, enabling the adults to really spend the time to understand Cu Chi Tunnels.
We ended the tour around past 5pm but since the kids were hungry, we decided to have a quick bite of rice and noodles in the restaurant located in the same compound as the tunnels. Mr Tai agreed without any hesitation despite the time implication of another hour delay for the meal. Though we finally reached the hotel at almost 8pm, Mr Tai maintained professionalism and the fun nature the kids enjoyed being around him.
I would recommend him as a guide to families with small kids, when you decide to you VN Bike Tour. He made the visit t Cu Chi Tunnel truly enjoyable and fun with the kids.
