“This is a gem!”
Reviewed 7 April 2012

My wife and I spent four weeks in Vietnam during September 2010. We stayed in a number of hotels right throughout the country and the Novotel Nha Trang was right up there with the best of them. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very welcoming staff member. We were very fortunately upgraded, without requesting and upgrade, to a beautiful room overlooking the beach. The room itself was immaculate and we were immediately at ease. We soon found the hotel was also well located as a short stroll of a couple of minutes had us right in the thick of the action in the town. We were also in close proximity of many major attractions including Vin Pearl Island which is a must for anyone with a sense of fun and adventure, access to the island is via a cable car across the bay. There's lots to see and do in Nha Trang including a trip to Monkey Island, Sleeping Buddha, parasailing or just plain lying on the beach. There are many restraurants and bars in the town which has something for everyone. The staff of the Novotel were top notch going out of their way to help, the barmaids even took the time to show me how to make the perfect Vietnamese coffee. If you're heading to Nha Trang definitely consider staying at the Novotel.

Although the hotel appears fairly new-ish, there's definitely a 80's look and feel to the place. This isn't so bad because the rest of Nha Trang looks and feels a little like Penang or Phuket 20 years ago (or perhaps its just my imagination). Arriving late, I was ushered onto the top floor (18th) into a sizeable standard room obliquely overlooking the "strip" so to speak. Nice view but not spectacular. The light timber-hued and neutral pastel ID felt gloomy, tired and boring. There's just too much beige! The bed is firmer than normal but not altogether uncomfortable. Linens are fresh-smelling and spotless. The bathroom is spacious with a large sunken shower area but water pressure is so-so only. They should really improve the quality of the toiletries and packaging - looks cheap, smelt cheap and felt cheap (but the room rates aren't!). The best part of the room was the small balcony with some nice outdoor furniture and a screen which cuts off the view of the adjacent room. BTW, the elevators (only two) are very slow so if you are on the upper floors, please be patient! Breakfast on the 1st floor was a nice fresh spread and had enough variety to please most people. The hotel is located on the main road into town but the (public) beach is across from it - so be careful when you decide to go for a dip. If you are used to private resort beaches this may take time to get used to but not unlike what you get in Patong or Pattaya. Service is friendly but not that personal which I guess commensurates with the three star hotel rating. I am sure there are other hotels at the same price bracket with a better pull factor.

We stayed here for 8 nt in marc 2012.The location is good, right across the street from the beach. From our 15.th floor de luxe room the balcony view was grand!
Nice and comfortable rooms, silent aircon and pretty silent room when the balcony door was closed.
The only thing we didn`t like was carpet flooring in the rooms, this might be an issue for allergics.
We had free wifi internet in our room at all times, and there was also a couple of free use computers in the lobby.
The breakfast was good with good selections, the staff was pollite and helpfull.
There is also a lobby tour desk that can arrange tours for you in just a few hours notice,we did several and had a great time.
There is walking distance to Nha trang central and lots of restaurants.
Over all very happy with the stay, and we love to come back to Novotel at another time.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less streetnoise.

Nice hotel but lacked any personal charm. I supposed this may have come with going with a big chain. It just didn't feel like we were staying in Vietnam when we were in the hotel. The staff were nice but not as friendly as other hotels we had stayed in during our trip through Vietnam. The location is fantastic directly across the road is the beach and only a few minutes walk to the main streets for bars, shops and restaurants.
We were lucky to get a room on the 15th floor and had stunning views! Get the superior or above rooms they have better views.
One huge disappointment to this hotel was the lack of sunbeds with umbrellas provided on the private beach area. It seemed that there were only really about 14 beds and 7 umbrellas so you had to get up at sunrise to reserve these with your towel. The hotel had no way of booking these and people seem to leave their towel on there for hours and leave without using them. Leaving us with no shade and any other option but to leave the beach. For a hotel of this size they either need a better system or more umbrellas! The pool had four beds to relax on and was freezing.
The breakfast buffet is simply amazing and caters for all types.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views. Choose the superior or deluxe to get the ocean views.

Booked 2 night stay at Novotel Nha Trang. Arrived on overnight train from Ho Chi Minh city at 6am and tried to check in. They said no problem we will fiond a room for you, and had a room ready for us by 7am, even though check in is not supposed to happen before 2.

To make things even better, we get up to our room and it is on the 18th(top) floor and on the front corner of the bulding with a triangle shaped balcony. Stunning view, as others have already stated. Room was massive, and even though they didnt mention it, i think with a room this good it may have been an upgrade to a superior room.

Room cost us around $85 a night, but cant remember who we booked through, but could have been expedia or agoda.

Breakfast was huge, so no complaints. I even hired a scooter from the travel desk and took it for a ride up the coast about 20kms. This way you get away from the traffic and noise of Nha Trang and can find your own personal space as well as having some fun riding a scooter around! Scooter hire was $8 a day.

Staff friendly and would definitely return if i went back to Nha Trang.
