“Clean and modern hotel - no extras”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2012

We stayed for 1 night at the Brunei Hotel - rooms are clean and big but very spartan with only the necessaties. This hotel is where you would stay if you are just after somewhere to sleep and don't need the extras like room service and in room wireless.

Stayed here for two nights on the way back to Australia. Very nice clean hotel in great location right near the centre of town.Had a very nice room with large Queen sized bed and flat screen tv. Bathroom was good size with large walk in shower.,Location is great because across the road you can take the water taxis to the water village which is interesting and the to see the monkeys in the forest. You need to barter a good price but I got a over 2 hour trip with three other tourists for 10 Brunie dollars each. Also there is a local food market.right across the road feom the hotel. There are several places of interest obly 10 minutes walk away from.the hotel including a beautiful mosque and the Regal museum which is very interesting and show cases some beautiful iterms and gold belonging to the Sultan of Brunie. The hotel breakfast was also good and they will make you a fresh omelete of scrambled eggs for you. The hotel cafe also serves good and very.reasonable priced western style foodl likee fish and chips and steak and staff were very nice. The hotel also runs a free a shuttle at 6.30pm to Gadong market ans shopping mall which.I think runs most nights of the week which is also wortg a visit. Brunie is a very small country but it.s good for a few days stop over and there arw several interesting trios to go on while your thete. I found the peiple very interesting and all the history of Brunie and the Sultan of Brunie was very interesting to learn about. It is a very clean and very safe country. Well worth a few days stop over. One other great thing was there were no mosquitos because they spray and I usually suffer with bites but not one bite in Brunie wbich was GREAT. Had a very nice stay here

The hotel is very clean and modern in an excellent location. The booking was done online through there official website. Check in was smooth and was even allowed to check-in early with no extra costs, etc. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the bus station, which can be quite handy for a B$1, 20 minute trip to/from the airport. Taxis were certainly not popular and other than four or five waiting at the airport, you wouldn’t see many riding around at all. Rumour has it there are only 40 taxis in the whole country. Apparently taxis were also relatively expensive.

The room was clean and very modern, with a nice bed, desk, TV with ESPN sports (they like there English Premier League football in Brunei) and mini bar (without alcohol of course as it is illegal to sell in Brunei). The shower was also excellent. The view from the room (225) was over the canal to the market.

Breakfast was also very good and varied. Buffet style with eggs cooked to order, bread (or toast), jams, Sausage, Pancakes, Baked Beans, Hash Browns, French Toast, Noodles, Rice, Asian Porridge and many other little variations every day along with orange juice, tea/coffee.

Staffs were always very friendly and were ready to open the door for you as soon as you came with a few metres of the entrance. There were many restaurants within 5 minutes walk. There isn't a great deal to do in this city, but all sights are within 10 minutes walk.

A very good-looking hotel, modern design, comfortable rooms, five stories high, in the center of town. Nice view of the water way and market from room 325 and others on that side of building. Problem was the traffic street noise at all hours which made for an uncomfortable sleep all night. A real pity the windows were so sub-standard as otherwise this was a great hotel. Maybe the other side of the building doesn't have this problem and would have found out if was staying longer. Another issue was that the kid working the desk gave out completely wrong info about the ferry schedules to Malaysia. Other than this, staff was cheerful and friendly.

We came to Brunei via the ferry from Kota Kinabalu and Labuan Island. We had no idea where we were going to stay but I saw this hotel from the bus. It was near to the bus station and because we were tired we didn't bother to look around. The price was a bit more than we would normally have paid but it was worth it. The rooms were very modern, large and clean. Not far to walk to the Mosque and other attractions. It is across from the canal so it is easy to pick up a water taxi (gondola) to travel up to the water village. Definitely worth looking at. There are night markets nearby with fantastic local food. Unfortunately we were there during Ramadan so the palace was not open. I wouldn't stay for much more than 2 or 3 days because there is not much to do in this city.

Clean but small rooms, friendly and helpfull staff and a good restaurant. Good place for a few days in town, you don't want to stay longer anyway, because Bandar Seri Begawan is quite boring.

I was extremely pleased with the hotel. The place was modern and clean. The service was also very good, all the staff were very polite and the main reception staff remembered your name, my only comment would be that it was hard getting recommendations on places to go. I was lucky I did a bit of research before I went so I had a slight idea but it would have been nice to be provided with some suggestions. Although the staff tried their best to help.

It terms of location all the tourist attractions are within walking distance or short drive away. The main city area of brunie is not very large. But I would choose this hotel again because of the convenience and the cleanliness.
