Whenever we come to Sri Lanka we have always struggled to find somewhere for our first few days pre traveling around the island. We are fussy and we took a punt on booking and let me say we were very happy we did .
It’s close enough for all the shopping if you have a wife like mine but so restful.
Rooms really nice, breakfast just perfect and great place to relax and prepare for the rest of this beautiful island .
If you are looking for a Columba cool , look no further

Our first stop in Sri Lanka and what a wonderful place, boundless hospitality, stayed when hotel was not too busy and it felt like having the whole place to ourselves. Had great breakfast and tea in the garden. The room was very well maintained and comfortable. This boutique place is on a busy road but the traffic dies down and we heard no road noise at night. I just wish they didn’t sweep leaves in front of our door at 6am! Easy access by tuktuk to other parts of Colombo, frankly not the most exciting of cities and not conducive to exploring. One day is more then enough. If you want to stay in a special place this is certainly one otherwise there are many cheaper options in bigger hotels.

This hotel styles itself as a quiet oasis in busy Colombo, and the heritage building itself is beautifully ornate, belonging to the former Sri Lankan royal family. The central courtyard is calm and pretty, but it’s exposed to the noise of the outside - unfortunately on my arrival a loud Christmas party was being thrown by the neighbours.

Rooms are cosy and decorated well if a little tired looking in places, and the toilet and shower are outside at the back, in a secluded spot. Just be aware! You don’t share with other guests but it’s not totally private. The rooms also let in a lot of noise from outside as they’re not totally cocooned away from the courtyard.

The breakfast had a lot of choice, and was all delicious but was a little late in terms of timeliness. There were only two rooms occupied so I imagine if it was busier it would be more chaotic. There’s also no soya milk available so not perfect for us lactose intolerant guests. The hotel also doesn’t have a liquor licence.

Staff are nice and chatty and overall It was a nice one night stay in Colombo but any more than this and it might have been a little less comfortable.

Thank you for your review. We really do apologise that your peace and quiet was interrupted by a loud party so near to the hotel. This is not normal and we think a one-off and obviously was completely beyond our control. As other reviews testify,Maniumpathy typically creates an oasis as well insulated as you can expect from the noise of a capital city.

We do generally get compliments about the decor and bathroom for your room which is particularly popular.I think it is important to clarify a response to your comment that the bathroom is “out at the back” and “not totally private”.From the main bedroom is a door to the bathroom under roof cover half-open to a very small courtyard between it and the bedroom ( not an unusual feature in warmer climates where indoor/outdoor is common) - the distance from the bedroom to bathroom is about 5m so not “secluded” at all ....and importantly it is totally private

We are not made aware in advance of your dietary requirements, but have noted your comment about soya milk and have responded by making it now permanently available

Thank you again for choosing Maniumpathy for your stay

The place is very asthetic. Good food and a good environment is an amazing mix. The rooms are huge but are not too expensive. The location is very convenient cause it’s in the middle of Horton Place. Loved my visit✌️

This was my second stay at Maniumpathy and as previously, it didn’t dissapoint. Beautiful room, great food and attentive service . It is an oasis of tranquility in the middle of busy Colombo. I particularly like the fact that in spite of being at the top end of hotel accommodation, it is not as formal as some other luxury hotels in Sri Lanka which gives it more of a relaxed atmosphere.
