location location location. this hotel is located in the main attraction district. the staff very help full and the view from the hotel is amazing. u can save lots of money staying there and its easy access by train and metro. from air port take metro to aksaray stop, than walk about 5 mintues to tramp stop and than its about 10 minutes to sirkecie stop. and than ur about 3 minutes to door step of hotel. use their public transportation. its very cheap.

Room Tip: ask for room on the 4th floor or higher.

Close to everything near tram stop, Eminonu transfer boats. The rooms are very small, need maintenance, smelling bathroom, no elevator. Nice breakfast good coffe. The staff is extemely friendly and helpfull. Overall is not worth this price as there are many cheaper same quality hotels in the surrounding.

This was booked by a friend. It turned out to be a clean, very reasonably priced hotel with an extremely helpful staff. Emir, the manager, gave us great help and advice during our stay. The lady cleaning the rooms was a delight, speaking good English and making sure we were comfortable. Good breakfast provided. Good free Wifi.
The hotel has lovely views of the Bosphorus from floor 3 and above but no lift - rather challenging if you are unfit. The towels and bedding have seen better days but are extremely clean with mattress covers etc. Bathroom very basic with erratic hot water.
The position was central with easy access to trams, train and ferries (all within walking distance). Surrounded by restaurants.
All in all good if you haven't high expectations of luxury, travelling without children and have some level of fitness.

Excellent location, within walking distance to many of the tourist attractions. My room had a fantastic view of the Galata tower. Typical Turkish breakfast but very good. Friendly staff. I wasn't feeling well my second night and the staff had soup delivered for me. The room was small but most importantly, clean and comfortable. No problems with WiFi or TV reception. Only negative note to my stay was a water leak in my bathroom and I had to be moved to another room on the 1st floor. I lost my beautiful view.

We used Room 102 for a very short stay. At 80 TL = 40 CAD, I thought the location, the front desk service and room quality were good value for the money. A hostel for 2 people would have probably cost more and provided less.
The pros first:
1) Excellent location just behind the Sirkeci train station. 2 min max to the Sirkeci T1 tram stop.
2) New decor - cheap but clean and brand new.
3) Small fridge, work desk, flat screen TV
4) Hardwood floors, 2 nice beds, 2 comfy armchairs, snow white clean towels and bed sheets, disposable slippers
5) Windows that open and allow a nice breeze (as long as you don't mind street noise and some car exhaust)
6) Lots of electrical outlets to charge our various gadgets
7) New toilet and washroom fixtures - very clean tiles

The cons:
1) Very small room (but I've been in smaller)
2) Half shower door missing - water in the shower drains too slowly and most of it ends up on the washroom floor
3) No tray for soap etc so you have to put your toiletries on the flooding shower floor or balance them on the faucet

The room was very clean and new-looking. The friendly guys carried our luggage up the stairs and welcomed us when we arrived. The lobby / b'fast lounge is cosy and inviting.

When we arrived at Esen Hotel, we were offered a room on the first floor across the road. As this had no views from the window we asked if we could be given a room with a view. Bearing in mind the location of this hotel near the waterfront, it seemed a shame not to have views to match. The management offered us a room on the top floor, if we could manage the steps, as there is no lift. You certainly need to be fit to manage the six floors involved! But, when you are up there the views are to die for - and it would be difficult to imagine any better views for the money this close to the waterfront. Not only that, the Sirkeci train station is immediately across the road, and the Sirkeci tram station is also within a matter of minutes. Plus a short walk to the ferry terminal at Eminonu. In other words, it just couldn't be any better situated.

As for the room, well it had seen better days, but it was clean. You can judge for yourself from the attached photos. There is exposed wiring, albeit insulated, and the standard of finish was lacking for this day and age. When my wife touched the wall cabinet in the ensuite, it was only hanging by one small screw, and it fell off the wall towards her. We told the staff about it the next day but it never got put back up whilst we were there.

Although the dining room was rather cramped - but we were there at a busy time - the buffet breakfasts were excellent, more than anybody could eat, and Nescafe coffee (wow!) and fruit cordial were on tap 24/7. The staff were very attentive and one even chased us up the street one soaking wet evening to loan us an umbrella. We were very impressed!

This area of Istanbul isn't cheap, but we felt that Esen Hotel was as good as it gets for the money. Our room was very tired and in need of updating, but it was clean, the plumbing worked (a big plus for this part of the world) and the bed was comfortable. At the end of the day, this was what we asked for as a trade-off against the sensational view, and we had no complaints.

Room Tip: Our room was 601 on the top floor. Ask to see it first, before making a decision, but don't expe...

The hotel is close to the main attractions. Most just a few minutes walk. Located in the metro maturity behind the hotel. Bit noisier than average, but not annoying! The staff is nice and helpful. The breakfast is not plentiful, but a few days bearable point. (3 kinds of cheese, two kinds of sausage, + butter, jam, honey, etc ...) The main building has no elevator, there are 6 floors. In the second building (as opposed to 10 feet) on each floor of a room and the elevator. They are more spacious. The reception desk is always free tea and coffee for guests! Overall, I recommend to everyone for a few days in Istanbul for visiting! good WIFI in the rooms too.
