Owner description: This mosque was positioned on a hill overlooking the harbor at Eminonu. Today, the local pigeons make their home in its graceful domes and arches.

“A quick stop at Yeni Camii”
Reviewed 15 December 2012

We made a quick stop at the Yeni Camii (New Mosque) before heading to the spice bazaar. The mosque is located almost across the road from the Eminou ferry terminal. It is easily accessible by the underground pedestrian crossing from Eminou terminal and is situated adjacent to the spice bazaar. Unlike some of the other well-known mosques in Istanbul, this one is far less crowded, providing visitors an opportunity to explore at their own pace. However, like all other mosques in Istanbul, it is only open to tourists outside of prayer times.

Dont miss the opportunity to see this fabulous site. The mosque may be closed during prayer times so plan accordingly.

“The unheralded Mosque that doesn't have the crowds, but has all the wows”
Reviewed 30 November 2012

It's the mosque no seems to talk about, but is one of my favorites. Right next to the spice market and souk, and just across the street from the ferries and tour boats on the Bosphoros, lies the New Mosque. Right in the middle of everything you come to Istanbul for. Just as impressive as the Blue Mosque, but without all the lines and waiting around. Extremely impressive interior and courtyard, and a major plus of being photographically accessible. The Blue Mosque is great, but this is one you don't want to miss.

“Great location!”
Reviewed 30 November 2012

We visited this mosque after lunch on the Galata Bridge, and before we toured the adjacent Spice Market. A little less "tourist feel" that some of the other mosques in the Old town of istanbul.

“More intimate than Blue Mosque”
Reviewed 16 November 2012

If you are planning to take the 10AM Bosphorus Cruise near the eminonu or walk around the Egyptian Spice Bazaar, then a visit to this mosque is a must.

This mosque is more intimate than Blue Mosque. The layout and design is similar to Blue Mosque as conceptualized by the imperial architect.

Few Tips:
- Blue Mosque was more photogenic outside. New Mosque actually more photogenic inside. Since it is smaller, you'll have the chance to photograph and see the details.
- The corridor areas are open, you'll see more metal work details here.
- If you like pigeons, bring some seeds for feeding.
