We stayed here twice during April - for 4 nights at the beginning of the month & 2 nights towards the end of the month. We left luggage at the hotel while we travelled through Turkey. we were made very welcome during our entire stay at The Alp & on our return we were greeted like old friends. All the staff were exceptional! Ermin & Aymurat on the front desk, Salman serving breakfast on the terrace each morning & lovely Sezer who did the cleaning. .
The hotel is very well located close to Sultanahmet, the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sofia & the Cisterns plus restaurants. There is no escaping the morning call to prayer so if you are a light sleeper & don't want to be wakened wear ear plugs.
There are great views from the terrace where breakfast is served.

Room Tip: Rooms 303 & 403 had views of the sea.

The hotel is located in one of the most touristic areas of Istanbul, a short walk to the Blue Mosque, and lots of restaurants one or two blocks away. The staff was very friendly and always very helpful.
The room is quite small, but clean, with internet and TV (even though no channels in English).
The breakfast is fairly ok, not many options of fruits and bread (and no cake or eggs). But lots of olives, if you enjoy them. The view from the breakfast room is amazing!

How to arrive: I took a taxi from the airport, no problem at all, paid 50TL. From the hotel to the airport the taxi driver "got lost" and I had to pay 70TL... so it is a matter of luck. And definitely leave at least 2 hours before to the airport!

Fantastic location, fabulous place for families with kids, very nice, friendly and professional people. They were very much accommodating to our kids. Service was very good. Folks at the front desk always gave us the right information and suggested places to eat, dine, shop and visit, keeping in mid that we had kids.

On a quiet side street in Sultanahmet Neighborhood -- couple blocks from Blue Mosque / Hagia Sophia / Topkapi Palace. They provided airport pick up for 25 Euros. Charming room. In-room safe. Small fridge. Drinking water in large dispensers in lobby and on roof with cups as needed. Soap and shampoo provided. Great breakfast on the roof (enclosed or outside) (pastries, olives, cheeses, bread, tomatoes, cucumbers, juices, numerous spreads for bread, etc, etc). All nonsmoking rooms. WiFi worked well in the lobby and occasionally in the rooms. Helpful staff. I found jogging going down hill to wide path beside the water or up around Topkapi Palace and down to large park with numerous criss crossing paths.

Bearing in mind that this is not a high-end luxury hotel, it's an excellent bet if you're looking for something affordable in the Sultanahmet area (around Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque). It's a small place with maybe a dozen rooms or so. But the rooms are tidy and comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly.

There are a lot of restaurants and bars nearby. Most are tourist haunts and the quality of the food often leaves something to be desired, but there are plenty of easy options after a long day or sightseeing.

I've stayed there twice now, a few years apart, and I'd happily stay there again.

You'll hear the morning call to prayer from the Blue Mosque. And the breakfast, on a top level overlooking the Bosphorus, is a good way to start the day and is a good mix of Turkish and Western/continental. When it's warm, there's an outdoor seating area, and when it's cool there's a glass enclosed area.

One thing to note is that there's no elevator, so if you're on an upper floor (there's only 5 levels), you'll have to get your luggage up a winding staircase. The staff are happy to help.

Overall, if you're looking for cozy, reliable, and affordable in a location that's very convenient to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and Hagia Sophia, this is an excellent bet.

Room Tip: From the window of room 404 you can see the top of Hagia Sophia over the neighboring buildings. The...

We found this place through a friend's recommendation, just behind the Aya Sofia and very convenient for the Major tourist sights. The staff are very friendly and helpful, with lots of good suggestions for things to do. The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable: our family room was just right for the four of us. Breakfast in the top-floor terrace, overlooking the Bosphorus is a big bonus: we spent quite a bit of time up there, watching the view! Overall, a really good option.
