Nice room, but very small. Very easy to move as tram station is only 5 minutes walk.
Tram is connected with metro. Breakfast is very good. Staff is also very friendly and cooperative. The street in front of the hotel is very clean. The view from the hotel is not that good, as all the sides are surrounded with buildings.

Short 4 night stay on our way home. Hotel staff were overly accommodating and helpful. We arrived around midnight. Front desk made our check in simple as we were tired from a long trip. Beds were comfortable and adequate buffet beakfast. Certainly value for money! Will be back next year!

Hotel itself ok. Close to the main tourist sightseeings in Istanbul. Rooms are too small, and required to be slightly repaired again. Breakfast is good, but limited choice, I had to wait my omelette almost 15 min in a long queue.

We arrived at 7pm to find our room was not ready.

We are a family of 4 so booked two rooms. Our children were allocated a room on the 4th floor, whilst we were allocated a room on the 2nd. This is really not good enough, but no other rooms were available.

We went out for a walk and returned to the hotel at 10pm to find our room had not been made up sufficiently. Not a great first impression:
Dirty towels left in the wardrobes
Floors not swept or washed - so hair on the bathroom floor and coffee on the bedroom floor
Dirty spoons left next to the kettle
Stained sheets on the bed
No blankets on the bed, just a single sheet
The mini bar empty and bottles in the wardrobe

We went to complain as were not happy and were offered a complimentary cup of tea. At 11pm, we eventually got to our room, it had been made up well but the floors were still dirty (the cleaner put this right in the morning).

The breakfast was OK, but not brilliant. The pool, was like swimming in the dark. The pool area was very wet and slippery (dangerous in fact). It needs to have not slip mats or be regularly swept before an accident happens.

The reception staff were polite and kind, but did try to push tours and overpriced taxis.

The best aspect of the hotel was the location. It is in the centre of the old quarter and all the great sights. You feel very safe. I was happy to go out for a few hours on my own (40 yr old woman) sightseeing and did not feel hassled or unsafe, on the contrary, I found the locals friendly, welcoming and helpful.

Our flight left late and the hotel has part of its reception area which was quiet and darkened. This was great for having a quick sleep before our flight.

The restaurants nearby are excellent and extremely good value for money.

My husband and I, coming from Italy/America, stayed at Sapphire (Safir) on our first trip to Istanbul.

We paid the equivalent of 50€ per night for this hotel; for European standards it was a good price but considering how significantly cheaper everything was in Istanbul, the next time I go I will search for a better deal.

The website presented Sapphire as fancier than it really was. There was a mix between new furniture and decor, some of which was shabby (old sofas, cheap upholstery, careless paint jobs)... and some of which was quite nice. The look and feel of the lobby and dining room was not indicative of the quality of the bedroom, where an attempt had been made to make the place look pretty while using inexpensive materials. Indeed, the bedroom was quite lovely and clean, with a comfortable bed, good quality firm mattress and pillows, A/C that worked very well, openable windows, a nice bathtub shower combo with excellent water quality, big TV, safe, a small minibar/fridge, boiler, tea & coffee packets, and sufficient drawers, cupboards, wardrobe, a little table and chair -- cozy, but big enough to meet our needs.

The breakfast was quite plentiful, with the usual European carb-rich type foods as well as fresh fruit, cold cuts, vegetables, cheeses and eggs.

We did not use the pool although I had a glance in the pool area and it looked like a pretty good quality set-up.

The van driver met us at the airport and gave us a free ride to the hotel, which was great, and they charged us just 20 TL each (5 euro) for the van ride back the early morning of our flight out. A relief!

The location of Sapphire is excellent. There are main attractions, restaurants, shops and markets within walking distance, also you can catch the tram a few minutes from the hotel. The area is safe (in a quite touristy area, but you can reach the areas frequented by locals with a short walk, and those were also pretty safe).

We found all the staff to be helpful, kind and smiling, not really pushy as some guests have commented. Their English was good.

I would definitely recommend this hotel if you can get a good price for it!
