We were so happy to stay at this tiny kibbutz "desert oasis". We met Mike, one of the founders who generously shared with us his-tory of how Lotan came to be. Fascinating! Everyone we met was kind, friendly and went out of their way to help us and show us the ins and outs of sustainable living. Even our 20 year old enjoyed the ecotour where we learned about an electricity-free, natural "microwave", how to save and recycle water, gardening without pesticides and even how to compost pooh (without any smells)! He is even considering returning to live and volunteer for a few months.
Don't expect luxury, but do expect very clean rooms, comfortable beds and a delicious, organic, and vegan breakfast. We will definitely be back and are already adopting some of what we learned in our lives.

Very, very peaceful place
Anyone looking for relaxation, this is the place
However, the rooms have old equipment
Even though the rooms except for a TV, has everything
Micro, electric kettle, coffee, tea and refrigerator
Anyone expecting a sweet sleep, sleep quality very basic
Nice dining room but dirty
Very basic food
There is a nice pool.
Prices are not high.
The kibbutz is located a half-hour drive from Eilat

first things first: this place does not have any frills but meets basic needs. This place hosts people who are interested in ecology, concept of kibbutz, who love desert, and r young at heart. We loved meeting/talking to people who live this community. Some of the workers come here from all over the world to learn, exchange ideas. Kibbutz is right on the border with Jordan (got some nice pics od Jordanian mountain ranges). This community also hosts new immigrants aiding in process of absorption. Has nice hammocks to kick back and watch birds, flowers, and life go by;)

Kib Lotan Can be a spa and it can be an earthy experience. But, whatever, you choose you'll find it here. I like simple and clean with no frills. But, i love color, art, and dimension to life and surroundings with meaningful experiences and people. The tour of the Kibbutz was informative and well done. The participants and the guests are open and friendly. The food is amazing. EVerything is done with meaning and purpose. If you come here, you must experience a watsu givien to you by Doria for under $60. The swirling in the water will open your back , your heart, and your mind. If you can't appreciate all of the above, maybe you are needing too much. Lotan makes you stop, think, participate , reflect , reevaluate and apply new learnings to your new richer life which you will experience after you leave,

Room Tip: All I can tell you about is that Room 35 was wonderful.

Our second night on tour was staying at the Lotan Kibbutz. It is an Eco friendly site and the rooms were comfortable, if basic. Wet room for shower, but no bath for those who like to have a soak! Breakfast was salads, egg and fruit with the 'dining room' like a canteen. Pack lunches provided were adequate.

It's not the most fancy place in the area, but, as a person that had been in the area few times, it's one of the best places in the area.
The rooms are modest, the breakfast is not the best I had, but the atmosphere, the service and the crew are great.
It's also, and you can feel it, an ecological place.
The swimming pool is quiet and nice.
We had great time there.

For anyone who loves the desert and the southern part of Israel, but wishes to stay away from the commotion of Eilat - Lotan is the perfect getaway. I visited the place twice, once with kids and once without, and both times it was wonderful.
The Kibbutz offers its visitors a very charming and relaxing experience, however modest in terms of accommodation. It's a trade off: you give up the mainstream luxuries of Eilat's hotels and you get peace and quiet like nowhere else.
The rooms are quite simple, yet comfortable, and breakfast is basic (however, note that when I stayed there breakfast was served in the communal dining room and not in the solar tea house, because it was during a holiday). The staff is very friendly. The guest house area is designed in perfect harmony with the nature surrounding it. Each building has it unique artistic mud decoration on the outside, and you will find picnic tables between the buildings where you can have your meals. There are also hammocks near the rooms, where you can lay down at night and count the stars. The main attraction is the beautiful swimming pool, surrounded by the red desert mountains. I would also recommend to take the guided tour to the eco-campus and the eco-park area, to learn a little about permaculture and get your hands in the mud and create mud bricks – the kids love it.

Room Tip: all rooms are the same
