The hotel is awful, filthy and in a location surrounded by street vendors. The staff and manager are rude, never been qualified or study hospitality. The room chamber doesn't know how to make the bed. He only covers the bed, leave it the way it is. He never ever change the sheets. This hotel needs woman and not men who don't know what to do when it comes to cleaning.

Room Tip: I advise you to avoid this hotel

Hotel is exceptionally close to the Herod's Gate entrance into Al Aqsa. Conveniently located and gives you a sense of Palestinian life. Great service from the owner and his son. Good restaurants within 200m walking distance from the hotel. Hotel is basic but great value for money. Close to money exchangers and local supermarkets

Very good location in Palestinian part of town, ok internet and no bed bugs! Very nice staff, a bit worn down but for the price definitely ok! The breakfast buffet boring, but again: considering the price, it was fair!

The hotel is situated right outside the Herod gate into the walled city making it super convenient to explore. The decor and overall feel is a bit dated and compared to The George or American Colony this hotel is basic. Rooms are large though. They have a lounge area on the 1st floor where you can bring your food and eat. They serve a good breakfast spread and the hotel reception is very very helpful. The neighborhood is safe and vibrant. Grocery stores and local fruit vendors are near the hotel.
The super location, affordable room rate with the friendly staff bumped the review up from average.

A great location and fair accommodation for Europeans in this amazing city.
Not up to the standard we normally expect in Europe but good enough.
No aircon so be prepared for very hot sleepless nights in summer!
Meals are adequate and the place is clean enough.
A noisy environment around the hotel can be off putting for those who do not sleep soundly.
But location, location, location, is the big advantage of this hotel

Room Tip: At the back rooms are quiter than on the main road

Very basic hotel. Very cheap compared to other hotels in the old city. Has free WIFI. They have a basic breakfast. 5 min walk to the Damascus Gate. Many shops near by. I've stayed there many times, not the Hilton but if your on a budget then I highly recommend.

If you are seeing Jerusalem on a tight budget, the Rivoli may fit the bill. Yes, it is fairly basic though it does have wi-fi which is more effective you get to the lounge. The positioning is good, near to Herod's Gate for easy access into the Old City, with the Police Station and Post Office just across the road.
Lounge and dining areas are up the stairs on the first floor, with more rooms on the second floor. breakfast and evening meal are both buffet-style and perfectly adequate. Tea and coffee is via the tea-bag or powder and hot water from the urn. Water and juice is served with the meal. Alcohol of off-limits, so give your liver a rest.
Rooms are dated with no views worth speaking of at the back, whereas the front views are busy and some evenings a little noisy. Resort to the seasoned travellers friend....earplugs. The room we were in did not have a hairdryer, so a travel version is recommended.
Other have commented on the shower and it does take a little getting used to, but it wets and cleans you.
In short, it ain't the Ritz and it does not pretend to be. We found the owner and his family very helpful. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
