Owner description: The remains of the Second Temple of Jerusalem and a place of prayer sacred to the Jewish people.

This is basically a cleared plaza across from the Western Wall. It's great if you're a Jew and you are here to pray or observe people praying, but beyond that, there isn't much to it really.

Would I recommend visiting if you're not Jewish? Of course. It is part of the religion, culture, and history of this place, and definitely should be on your checklist.

A must see and experience when in Jerusalem. Go to the Kotel, as the Jews call the Wall, at least 1 hour before sunset on Friday. Many Jews come to the Kotel to welcome and celebrate the start of Sabbath. The plaza will be full of people and the atmosphere is amazing. People will include you in singing and dancing if you like, or you can just stand and watch it all. Dress modest and experience the heart of Israel! Sabbath Shalom.

It was a treat to go to the Western Wall. There was so much activity. It was amazing to see the number of people praying at the Wall, reading scripture and praying. We had several people who knew we were visiting Jerusalem ask us to put prayers in the Wall for them. So we did. As a.believer, it was nice symbolism, but I’m grateful to know that my prayers are heard anywhere and anytime. It still was special to be there and experience.

Doesn’t matter what people say or what you see in pictures...you have to see for yourself. Friday night before sundown the energy and beauty of the whole place are breathtaking.

I suggest to come here in the evenings when it is bustling with activity and Jewish families are arriving and then the experience is spiritual.
