It's always nice to stroll through the narrow shop- and restaurant-filled alleys of Jerusalem's Old City. It can sometimes get crowded, but that just adds to the atmosphere. Some are wary of visiting the Old City for security reasons, but I have personally never felt unsafe there. If you want to buy something in one of the shops, just make sure to bargain, it is expected: do not agree to the first price offered by the shopkeeper! And if you stop to eat in one of the many little restaurants, make sure to ask to see a menu and/or ask for the prices up front -- otherwise there's a high chance you'll get stuck with an unjustifiably HUGE bill! And if there's one place you shouldn't miss -- it's Jafar Sweets, where you'll find the best Knafeh around, guaranteed! Jafar Sweets is located along the way toward Damascus Gate when you're coming from the main entrance to the Muslim Quarter from Jaffa Gate. If you don't know where to find it, just ask one of the shopkeepers -- everyone knows the place. Definitely worth seeking out!
