Set in a British mandate building, opposite Damascus gate, it is like stepping back in time. The musuem houses archaelogical findings from around Israel and although it doesn't seem to have beeb upgraded since the British left, this somehow ads to its charm

As a museum, wonderful. It's a quick and efficient way to understand the Temple Mount. If you can arrange it, see the 3D presentation from UCLA and use one of their guides.

This musuem built during the British Mandate houses tens of thousands of artifacts discovered throughout the Land of Israel. The large airy halls house finds from every era of civilization that Israel has known with special displays such as the ceiling decorations of an Arab era palace in Jericho and the lintels of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Located not far from Damscus Gate, this museum gives a rich overview of archaeological artifacts discovered before the State of Israel was formed. It is run by the Israel Museum who offer free transportation and tours of the museum.
