Owner description: Following two devastating wars and 20 years of enemy occupation, the Jewish Quarter of Old Jerusalem was reconstructed with great attention to harmonious architectural detail. The highlight of the quarter is the excavation of the Cardo, the ancient Roman market street.

When I studied in Jerusalem sixty years ago, there was only a Jewish city...we were not able to enter the Walled city. In 1967 we all flocked to see the Wailing Wall and walk in the Arab market and the Via Dolorosa. Now the modern Jewish part of Jerusalem has become a very large spreading city with old and new architecture, and a few lovely villages and twons outside it.

Walking these narrow streets on stones that have been tread for milleneum is moving at the very least. To observe the residents eraning a living, selling their wares and going about their daily lives is a learning experience. the streets are narrow, motor vehicles are prohibited, the surfaces uneven and there are many steps. Keep hydrated, apply sunscreen and wear a hat if you are sensitive to direct sunlight. For the most part the area is shaded, very narrow and crowded.

This entire experience was very interesting. There are many shops and places to frequent. I felt as though I was stepping back in time.

When you are in the Jewish Quarter in Jerusalem you are transported to all of the History of the Jewish people when they were in the Land of Israel. A must see place in Jerusalem.
