“Very comfortable overnight stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2012

We fell into Le Meridien straight from the airport. Our room was in the old section. Large and very comfortable. Tired from our journey, we ordered dinner via room service which was both prompt and delicious. We slept like logs on the wonderful beds and enjoyed an excellent breakfast the next morning before embarking on our tour of Jordan. Can recommend without reservation..

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 March 2012

We spent 3 nights at this Le Meridien in Amman (March 1, 2 & 7, 2012) and were not impressed. We arrived in Amman on a day that was unusual since it was snowing and really cold. When we reached the hotel it was raining and unfortunately the entrance area was messy because of water leaking from the roof.

Check-in was reasonably smooth and we were quickly in our room. As we were kind of stuck in the hotel - rain, snow, cold and most roads being closed because of dangerous driving conditions - we requested the front desk to arrange a wifi router for us so that two of us could use our laptops. They went out of their way to locate one and give it to us for the 2 nights we were there the first time.

We had to change our plans of visiting Jerash and Umm Qays the next day since the roads were dangerous to drive and the hotel advised us against trying it. So we ended up taking a short taxi tour of the city by visiting the Citadel (closed but the nice guards allowed us to go in) , Roman theater (closed), downtown and its shops (again mostly closed due to weather and because it was a Friday) and the Husseiny Mosque. Since there was not much else we could really do, we ended up back in the hotel.

Our experience at the Italian restaurant in the hotel wasn't great since they mixed up our dishes and served a partly-cooked canaloni. However, when we complained, they quickly fixed the issues and brought us a fresh and entirely new meal. To make up for the fiasco, they even served us complimentary dessert.

The second time we stayed there for 1 night only when we came back from Aqaba and the Dead Sea. The weather had warmed up significantly by then with the temperature hovering around 20C. Our attempt to use the aircon in the room failed since the hotel was still in 'winter mode' and had turned off their cooling systems. We had to resort to opening the window to get us cool and fresh air. This time we were also unlucky in not being able to get a wifi router since all of them were in use.

We would not call the breakfast or snacks/food served in the Club lounge great, but simply average. We got access to the Club lounge - with all day drinks/snacks and breakfast for 3 of us - because of our SPG Gold member status and by paying an additional JD30 per day, which we thought was very good value.

We were also surprised by an incident relating to pricing. The second time we stayed there, front desk told us that the extra bed will cost us JD25 plus taxes. Even when we told him that we had an email from Mr. Ahmed in the reservation department confirming a rate of JD20 plus taxes, he did not apply the rate and asked for the email to be forwarded to him. It was only after he got the email, that he applied the lower rate. What we don't understand is that how can something like an extra bed have 2 different rates?

When one considers that on a cash-only basis, this property costs in the region of USD 225 a night (we stayed on cash & points because of our SPG status), I would think twice before rating this hotel good value for money.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of March. The weather was cold outside but nice and warm inside. The hotel is not brand new but it is clean, warm and inviting. The staff is always helpful, attentive and smiled all the way. We had a half board arrangement and had our dinner and breakfast at the Cosmo restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised as the buffet meal was better than the usual buffet spread you have at any other hotel. Overall a very nice experience and would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

it was a bad experience, i made my booking through a travel agency asked them to make sure that they book me a room at the new section (newly renovated rooms) which they confirmed to me twice. However, when i arrived at the hotel the employee at the reception desk told me he don't have any rooms in the new section and i have to settle for an old room!! when i refused he told me he will upgrade me to a better room.. which was more like a down grade because he fooled me with an old room not in the new section.. it was too late to take any decisions but i stayed for a night then the next morning i checked out and went to the Four Seasons which was a great experience (one of the best hotels in terms of service and rooms).. Huge difference between the employee who i still remember his name of Le Meridian and the Four Seasons staff..

Recently stayed for 2 nights at Le Meridien having stayed many times over the last 15 years. The hotel has undergone quite a lot of refurbishment work in the last few years and this time my stay was in the newer wing of the hotel (compared to the tired rooms in the original wing last time). I paid the premium for the 'Club' upgrade, which includes internet, access to the lounge with breakfast, happy hour and an evening buffet - for an additional 30JOD this practically pays for itself. However, breakfast is pretty limited in choice and the lounge gets busy whenever there are free food and drinks. Also, the lounge is on the 8th floor in the old part of the hotel and therefore a bit of a trek from the new wing. Not a huge problem unless you have difficulty getting around.
I don't think the room is any different for the club upgrade but mine was fine - I guess a twin with two decent (queen) size beds in which I slept very well (not often the case). Free internet is by lan cable only (at least in the new wing) which was annoying, but wifi is available in the lobby and club lounge.
Bathroom was not great - the shower curtain in my room wasn't long enough to reach the bath so inevitably shower-time got the floor pretty wet but the water pressure wasn't so strong as to make this a huge problem, just a silly mistake.
The hotel was very busy during my stay apparently owing to an influx of Libyans getting medical help but the various restaurants were still pretty quiet. On the first night we had steak in 'Bar 282' which was pretty good and the second night ate at their Benihana which was ok but not as part of the original hotel looking a little worn.
Overall none of this diminished my experience that much and I would be happy to return for my next visit.

Room Tip: Pay the 30JOD for the club lounge, and try to get a room in the new wing,

Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing your kind comments on our website.

The new entrance to the hotel has been designed to add timeless, uncontained space to the lobby and to enhance the arrival experience. We are also extremely proud of our outlets, especially 282 Steaks and Lounge which offers the best Certified Angus Beef in Town. Benihana is also known for its fresh sushi and tasty Teppanyaki. Please accept our apologies about the shower curtains, as we are in the process of changing them. As our hotel is one of the biggest in town and is mostly busy with guests, this process might take a month to complete.

Thank you again and looking forward to welcoming you soon at your second home; Le Meridien Amman.

After having stayed (or almost stayed) at some seriously interesting (disgusting) places in Egypt I was tempted to give this 5 circles but then I remembered a couple of negatives. Those being: bathroom was pretty dated and felt a little old and the air con which everyone else has also mentioned was not working and we had to open our window. Aside from these things though the hotel was very good. And our room was clean with NO hair on the sheets or towels. After staying in the before mentioned Egypt hotels and one at the Dead Sea and almost one in Petra I can say with certainty that this is an apparent rarity in the Middle East. Seriously, I think housekeeping must brush their hair while cleaning in these countries. Anyway, I digress. This hotel was such a nice relief and we had the best meal of our trip here at the Italian restaurant. Food was simply excellent and inexpensive. Also, gift shop near lobby sold some great Dead Sea products and some handmade things from Israel. Would definitely recommend. Think this is probably as good as it gets in the Middle East...

Must ask for the newly renovated part of the hotel...v clean, spacious.
friendly staff and very helpful.

I was upgraded to a Jr. Suite...overlooking the pool (not a good idea if you have kids, as loud music can be heard late night). Didn't bother me as it stopped by the time I would come back to the room.

room service over priced...not great. hit the town to eat if you can.
