I like to go this place in the afternoons say at 4.30 pm just to see the old fort where the history tells that the Portuguese have fought with the Bahrainis in this place. Old ruins still remain preserved. After a walk down and up hell take the side walk by the sea to lead you to a small coffee shop where you can have a small bite with either tea or coffee and watch the sun down at around 5.30 to 6 pm. If you are lucky, you might find a flock of birds eating sea weeds and small fish.

On the inside, the Fort has such a serene and calming feel to it, and it is stunning to say the least. It helps that it has been excellently maintained.
You can also go here for a jog/walk around the Fort; in the evening, this feels so good with the sun setting and the greenery around certain sides (and birds chirping!) and the corniche on some sides and the majestic fort standing around.

Do make it a point to visit the adjoining museum before you head to the fort. The walkways around the fort are a great place to jog for residents. The fort exteriors and interiors make for some great pictures.

The museum is worth seeing prior to visiting the fort itself so you can get the context. The exhibition is well put together and gives an interesting history of the fort and surrounding area.
