“Best brunch in the country!”

Big Texas Barbeque & Waffle House
Ranked #57 of 573 Restaurants in Manama
Description: Big Texas BBQ and Waffle House is the first original American Owned and American Operated Bar-B-Que Smokehouse in the Middle East. We welcome children and families to our home as we smoke US Certified Halal Angus Beef (CAB), Halal Chicken , pulled pork and baby back pork ribs at low temperatures for long times to ensure a flavor you will find nowhere else in the Middle East. Our steaks cannot be matched for the price and we will place the flavor and tenderness of our steaks against any location in Bahrain. Couple our meat with the large portions and outstanding flavors of our side dishes and our homemade desserts and we guarantee a great experience. 6 nights a week we feature live American music played by Rusty Golden, a two time Grammy nominated artist and Clarissa, a young up and coming talent with a golden voice. Come and see us and say hello to Bryan, Milly or MAJ Cox.

Well, it's not a big country, but I'd still eat here back in the states. Barbecue is spot on (and pizzas are amazing). The owner is from the same town as my dad, which is fun.
Brunch is a fantastic value if you're drinking. No choice of 2 bottled beers, 2 terrible wines, and a premixed pitcher of sugar here. They've got plenty on tap, good sangria, and essentially an open bar (not that they'll give you 18-year Macallan for the price of brunch). Nothing is swill.
It's not "cheap", but like I said, excellent value for money.
One caveat: it isn't a quiet brunch. It can get rowdy - but that's what you want in a barbecue joint, right?!

I was headed back to Benegin's for the honey mustard dip but decided it was a good day for BBQ. I ended up at Big Texas BBQ and Waffle House. The service was exceptional I got the table of my choice and ordered the beef brisket. It was good not great but very tender and served very quickly. Overall a good experience.

Texas BBQ in suburban Bahrain ? The common factor must be an interest in burning meat beyond recognition. The performance by Meat Ball and Dolly Farton on the night was a standout and reminiscent of Dubbo RSL in 1977 (You had to be there to understand). On the other hand the staff are seriously good; beautiful people. Maybe I should have gone for a waffle on top of the already generous cholesterol and carbohydrate meal to walk out with sweeter memories.

Went to Big Texas for dinner a couple of times. The brisket, pulled pork, and baked beans were excellent. I like the atmosphere of the place. A definite must try if you're looking for food in Bahrain. My only complaint is that the food is on the expensive side with a sandwich costing nearly 8 BD. If you add a beer to that, you're looking at maybe 12 BD. A entree would be more in the range of 12-14 BD. So costs can add up quickly. For that value in the States, I could get a heck of a lot more.

Arrived with anticipation of some great American inspired food. Rather uninspiring and equivalent to a 3 star hotel breakfast. Tried pork spare ribs - smothered in sauce but dry inside. The tequila margaritas were good. Some good 'Irish' sausages. Salad bar a bit sad and no cheese selection. One thing we noticed was that about half an hour before the end of the session was that it was very hard to attract the drink waiter - it was as if we had become invisible. After numerous requests one eventually arrived and as we placed our order the clock ticked over and we were told - sorry you have to pay extra now. It turned out to be a bad deal for us in terms of cost and quality and the seeming internal policy to staff to avoid customers ordering drinks.
