Hotel Muisca is a very beautiful hotel with nice old time atmosphere. It is located in the old town of Bogota on top of the hill, so maybe it is better to arrive by taxi. Staff is friendly and breakfast is very goo. Host is also fan of Jari Litmanen!

We spent 2 nights here ahead of our Colombian tour.
we had a beautiful room.
The staff are delightful and helpful and really looked after us.
Good location for the historic area of Bogota. The gold museum is nearby.

We stayed at Hotel Muisca 5 nights, and from the moment we walked in the door (at 3 a.m.! Our flight was delayed)everyone was very helpful. If you don't speak Spanish, the staff will smile and work with you until understanding is reached. Our room was small but the beds were comfortable, and the shower provided hot water. Breakfast is included in the cost of your room.

It is true that the hotel is located at the top of a steep hill, but taxis are cheap and available. Hotel Muisca has a charming garden area with fountains, where breakfast is served, and there is a rooftop terrace with amazing views of the city and of Monserrat that floats in the clouds at the top of a nearby mountain. If you choose not to venture out to one of the excellent nearby restaurants, you can stay in and have a bowl of robust Colombian soup made by the hotel chef. Drinks are also available.

I am so happy we stayed at this hospitable hotel.

Muisca Hotel is very good value for your travel dollar. Other hotels in the Candelaria district are far more expensive. One final note: If you have any physical limitations with breathing and or mobility, Bogota will definitely be a challenge.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask about accessibility. Some rooms are up a couple flight of narrow stairs.

My friend and I wanted to stay somewhere in La Candelaria to have a base to explore the city. Muisca hotel was exactly what we needed. It is right on the edge of La Candelaria, close enough to easily walk to anywhere in the neighborhood, but not in one of the really loud party areas. It is a very steep hill up to Muisca from La Candelaria, so if you have any mobility issues, this would not be an idea place for out. It is several blocks from the main plaza. The rooms are simple, but clean and modern. Beds are comfortable. They have a small bar that you can order beers or cocktails from to take either to the outdoor courtyard area or back to your room. Breakfast is included, but is nothing special. A couple eggs, juice and coffee.

It is worth mentioning, La Candelaria is a beautiful, old section of the city, but it is not the safest. In the day time, it is fine. But I don't recommend doing a lot of walking around at night, especially for women. However, it is easy enough for the hotel to call a taxi and get a taxi back from anywhere. If you are looking for a safer, more modern area, check out Chapinero and Zona Rosa.

They also let us keep our luggage until about 9 pm the day we checked out, since we had a late flight, and called a taxi to the airport for us.

Bogota is an enormous sprawling city. La Candelaria is but one small "barrio" in an overwhelmingly large city. La Candelaria is the old part of town; there are good museums there; but not much else (except a great restaurant called Son de los Grillos.)

The Muisca Hotel is perched on top of a steep road, next to a school, and surrounded by very little of consequence. You feel pretty isolated staying at this hotel. It is also very small. The doorways, halls, beds, bathrooms, sinks, etc. All very small.

The hotel has some nice design, and the breakfast is okay. But the rooms are very noisy (because they have 2 large water fountains which are really loud) and they are next to a school (so you get to hear the pitter-patter of feet, sliding desks and chair, and screaming children, around 6:30am)

The staff is very slow. Check in took over 30min.

Most cabs do not know where this hotel is.
