“History At It's Best!”
Reviewed 29 March 2012

When you are in northeast Kansas take time to visit the birthplace of Amelia Earhart. The home overlooks the Missouri River and looks out upon the river plain across to the Missouri bluffs, a distance of four miles.

The home brings to life the way it was when the famous aviatrix was a baby and small child in Atchison. All the furnishings are great and you can almost imagine Amelia walking from around a corner. This home has been well cared for and is the pride of the Atchison Community. Knowledgeable docents answer questions and bring the history of the home to life. Nice little gift shop at the end of the tour provides interesting books and prints of this great courageous and adventuresome woman.

“Would have been so much better if staff had been helpful.”
Reviewed 14 March 2012

For $4, you can take a self-guided tour of Amelia Earhart's birthplace. A remarkable female pioneer of aviation, Earhart's home is full of memorabilia and documents about her life. It would have been so much more interesting if the woman staffing the museum had told us a few tidbits of information about Earhart and pointed out some of the most important documents. If you already know a great deal about Earhart, you could enjoy the museum on a self- guided basis. Perhaps others staffing the museum on other days are more helpful and willing to share their knowledge of Earhart. Worth seeing.

“Stepping back in time”
Reviewed 21 January 2012

If you are interested in early aviation or in life in America in the early 1900s, the Amelia Earhart home is worth a visit. Atchison is about an hours drive & 50 years of time away from Kansas City. Think about lunch or dinner at the Riverhouse restaurant, sitting on the banks of the wide Missouri River.

“Great home”
Reviewed 4 January 2012

Her house was so pretty! It was old, but still modern, because they obviously probably had to rebuild it. This was a great museum. :)
