We have just returned from our honeymoon at Eratap Beach Resort. Everything everyone else has said is quite correct. It is a wonderful resort with fantastic service, beautiful villas and great food. Where Tony, Louisa and the team really came to the forefront was their support of us through a cyclone and a bad coral cut on my foot. We ended up having to spend an additional four days with them due to the cyclone and they couldn't have been more supportive and caring. Thanks to the whole Eratap team for making our honeymoon very special.

We travelled to Eratap in July 2009- my sincere apologies to Tony, Louisa and the Eratap crew for not having written this much earlier.

We were in Vanuatu after having found Eratap on a cold internet search of resorts, and it's possibly the best travel decision we could have ever made. The purpose of travel was a birthday celebration for a friend and myself, with our respective spouses and we could not have been happier with everything Eratap had to offer. Reading Marcus and Wendy's review- they were there at the same time we were- the little earth tremor you felt was especially arranged for the morning of my 50th birthday, but please don't tell anyone, or they'll all want one! ;-)

I have read through all the reviews written so far and, with the exception of an odd- and after having spent 12 days and wonderful nights there, the word "odd" may have more the one meaning in this context- negative, I can find nothing to say which hasn't already been said. I simply wish to add my thanks and praise to the staff and owners of Eratap for the best holiday, in one of the best spots on Earth. You MAY find better, in your travels all across the globe, but you will be hard pressed to find a friendlier resort than this one. Our group would be back in a flash, given the opportunity. We could not recommend it highly enough. Take the chance, if it comes your way... you will NOT regret it.

We had high expectations of our 4 night stay at Eratap and were not disappointed. The rooms were beautifully appointed, with clearly a high level of attention to detail in their construction. The staff were always friendly and helpful and clearly proud of their local village land where the resort is built. We settled into a wonderful pattern of rising early, using the free kayak and snorkelling equipment at a nearby island, followed by late breakfast and, in the heat of the day, enjoying the magnificant view. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from avery belated second honemoon at Eratap where we stayed for 7 nights. We stayed in Villa 2 for 5 nights (one bed) then moved to Honeymoon Villa 11 for the remaining 5. The villas are identical inside but the peninsular location of Villa 11 is to die for. Unfortunately the weather was very average when we were there (including a Cyclone) so we only got to view 1 sunrise & 2 sunsets from our outdoor area - but they were awesome and gave us taste of what it would be like at a different time of year. One negative on the villa is the severe lack of towels! 1 each isn't enough! Request more when you arrive! alternatively take extras from the pool as we did! We left our children at home with the grandparents so must say that this resort was a lot more aimed at families than we had hoped. Their website states they cater for children over 5 only. This isn't the case - there were plenty of toddlers and babies there. we were kept awake the first night with a screaming baby next door - if you are like us and plan to escape children, I would sugest checking with the resort for the periods in the year where the resort becomes adult only. Having said that, we are now planning a return trip this September WITH our children! They are 10 & 9 and would love it. The people are amazing and very friendly.
It was a tough week for them with the weather and they held it together really well, despite their villages being devasted. Thank you Eratap.

TPVan, Owner at Eratap Beach Resort, responded to this reviewResponded February 8, 2011

Dear Mustang 74,

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at Eratap. We are very glad you enjoyed yourselves and thank you for your understanding during the difficult weather conditions provided by Cyclone Vania.

I can appreciate your comments regarding young children at the resort and I am sorry that they impacted your stay. We do have in place a new policy in 2011 whereby the resort only caters for children 5 and over during the family periods. The young children that were staying during your visit were from a booking made during 2010, long before we introduced the new policy. We were obliged to honour that booking as it was made prior to the policy change. As a general note our family periods account for 6 months of the year and they all fall around the Australian & New Zealand school holidays. Even during family periods the resort only has 5 of its 12 villas that caters to families so there is usually not loads of children around.

Finally I am sorry about the towel situation, I do know that laundry was struggling during the cyclone to keep up with the demand, we’ll make sure there are ample towels for when you return.

Kind regards
Tony

Eratap has won the Vanuatu Resort of the Year for the last four years and with good reason. It is well designed, well appointed and well run. The staff are well trained, courteous and efficient. We traveled with another family, and rented 2 two bedroom villas. The children were 9, 10, 12 and 13 and had a ball. It is relaxing, with an excellent spa, but plenty to do, such as excellent snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, swimming, surfing, a visit to the local village, nearby horseriding, and trips on the resort boats to nearby islands for picnics, shell collecting and snorkeling. (and hermit crab racing!)
The food is excellent, and the breakfasts great. The Villas are spacious and the children had a separate room and bathroom. They are beachfront and each villa has at least its own little cabana with sunbeds on the beach. We will definitely visit again. Having spent a week elsewhere prior to staying at Eratap, we did have something to compare with. There was no comparison.
