We headed out to Vanuatu for 2 weeks in April and selected Teouma Bay Beach house because of the amenities it offered, and the fact it was away from the hustle and bustle of Port Vila. We had a fantastic stay as a family of 3 and would highly recommend it.
There were a few quirks to Efate and Port Vila that did take some getting used to. The maps provided to show us how to get there (we had our own hire car) were not really detailed enough, and we struggled to find our way through Port Vila on the first afternoon. The rough dirt road out to the house of the island ring road was also unexpected and had us initially wondering if we were even in the right place. The instructions from Christiana were correct however and got us very close to where we had to be. On arriving in the vicinity, the gates were shut and there was no outward signs that we had found it. Indeed we drove past for a bit before stopping and phoning to make sure. Christiana then arranged for Rema to meet us on the road and she let us in. It was paradise from then on.
The only other thing to be wary of is the steps down to the water. The last one, which is a sloping ramp, gets slick like teflon when wet or even damp. Avoid stepping on it if it is even vaguely wet or you will end up on your backside. Otherwise the naturally contained pool was wonderful and made a safe enclosed area for our daughter to swim in.
Thanks Rema and Christiana for all your help and to the owners for agreeing to met me stay there and carry out my other "odd" hobby of Amateur Radio from the house as well. More about that at vk5gr-iota.net.
