Hideaway is a great place for a laid back and relaxing holiday, The snorkelling and diving is just fantastic with loads of fish right from the shallows, the staff go out of there way to help and nothing is to hard, Stella and the office staff are more than happy to help with ideas of sites to see or shop's to spend your money in. The dive guide's are great and will point out things that most people would just swim straight over and will ask you what you would like to see and they keep an eye out for you(even if it sharks-thanks boys), now the most important part of any holiday, the FOOD!, Bruce and his staff work magic in the kitchen, the standard menu has a great variety from steak(always cooked to perfection),chicken, fish and the best curries this side of India and don't get me started on the Deserts, the chocolate mousse is to die for!!, the cheesecake and chocolate cake is not bad either!
In summing up if you want a laid back holiday location where you can relax and let the world go by, Hideaway is the place to go, Great location, Great Staff, Great holiday!!!
Thanks again to all the staff for make our holiday so fantastic, we will back for sure, so stock up on the Moose Bruce - just like that!!!

A gorgeous little resort, casual and friendly, lovely staff (we even had people come check on us when we missed dinner one night!)
A perfect mix of relaxation and activities. Great to lounge around and do nothing, but snorkling, scuba-diving, sailing, fishing and visiting the mainland broke up any cabin fever.
Big thankyou to Tomas for being patient and encouraging while I learned how to scuba dive. I couldn't think of a more lovely part of the world to get my diving accreditation in.
The food was lovely (expanding waistlines were probably our only complaint!)
Also a big thankyou to the kitchen staff who did amazing things with the Mahi Mahi we caught.
Five stars from us!

Just returned from Vanuatu. First 3 nights at Hideaway. Very quiet and relaxing. Basic rooms but very well serviced; friendly staff. Bar and restaurant on the beach. Best steaks and prices cheaper than elsewhere. Great snorkelling at both high and low tide: lots of fish and lovely coral garden accessed by free boat. Mele Cascades and Port Vila easily accessed by bus - best when there is not a cruise ship in port. Look forward to going back!

great snorkling, off the beach, great variety of fish & corals, a marine sanctury, secluded, within reach of port vila, shopping etc.

Port vila touted as a good value duty free port, not true for $nz, poor exchange rate, much better to have $aus

After reading some reviews of Hideaway Is in Trip Advisor I admit we hoped we had chosen the right destination for our week's holiday.

From the moment we stepped ashore onto this unique coral island we knew we had come to the perfect place to relax and enjoy a getaway from a busy life. The Mele people who staff the resort are welcoming, smiling, happy, and have great pride in their little island, and nearby village ,on the big island (Efate).Service is always well intentioned, smiling, occasionally haphazard but just relax and go with it!!!

Our bungalow accommodation was simple, comfortable, island style decor, serviced daily and we loved returning to our rooms to find fresh flowers and our clothes folded up(!) and everything tidy. The gardens are beautiful, the snorkelling and diving are magical. The reef is only metres from shore.Plenty of live coral despite the cyclone a few years ago and an abundance of friendly fish(the island is a marine sanctuary).

If you are seeking a 5 star resort with air con,TV,telephones in rooms, loud music, kid's clubs, dubious spa "treatments" and all night bars and dancing don't come here!! There are plenty of those places in Port Vila!! Many day visitors who come out to Hideaway wish they were staying on the island;others rush back to their TVs and aircon (they simply don't "get" an authentic South Pacific island experience!!

We will definitely return to this natural, special place.
