“Beautiful eclectic tropical home.”

I have recently returned from 4 weeks in Vanuatu, 3 of which were spent enjoying this beautiful eclectic tropical home. At first glance the Reef House takes your breath away and you wonder how it can "work" in Vanuatu, but it takes one stunning sunset and evening enjoying the serenity and atmosphere of the house and you understand how amazing the house is. We travelled with our extended family which included a 4 month old ,an 18month old and a 3 year old. There was plenty of space for everyone and we were always able to see the children no matter where they were. Jake may still be picking up the coral stones that our grandson loved to play with! Many days were spent in and out of the pool, beach and hammocks with no desire to go anywhere. The solid timber "long table" was the scene of many delicious family meals cooked in the well appointed kitchen with local fresh produce. The staff, Jake and Edna were terrific and interacted with us all without being imposing. Edna loved a cuddle with our baby grandson and we had many long chats with Jake about "the world the universe and everything".
My only rider to this review is if you aren't good with insects and creepy crawlies then maybe the Reef House isn't for you. If you dont mind sharing with a few bugs then I would recommend the Reef House and we all look forward to staying again.

“Great Holiday”
Reviewed October 6, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

I had an incredible holiday at the Reef House with a group of friends. We barely left the house for the duration of our stay, easily entertaining ourselves lazing about. A great space to cook amazing food from the markets, read in the sun and take regular dips in the sea. Glen, Jake and Edna were all wonderfully attentive creating this most relaxing environment. The Reef House was everything i was looking for in a holiday.

“Just a stunning and fabulous stay.”

Who could ask for more with The Reef House. Just amazing. Had the most wonderful time here. Who could ask for more to see the sun go down at night with the sea view, and hear the waves at night while drifting off to the most wonderful sleeps. This house is in a class of its own, beautiful bedrooms all with fans in. The open plan living of this house caters for all needs. Have to also thank the house maid Edna for her wonderful service, even ironed my underwear. A very gracious and obliging host was the owner Glen Craig. As Arnie in the Terminator stated, " I'll be back", and can't wait.

“Absolutely fantastic house situated in a serene tropical paradise”

When we drove into the driveway of the Reef House the neutral entrance exterior of house gave out no clues as to what inside of house would look like. When the door opened and we were greeted by a smiling Jake (one of the house staff) all of us were enthralled by the most stunning sea views and architectural design as we walked down the internal pathway going through the centre of the house. We were a party of eight and the set out of the Reef House with its private areas meant we never felt crowded out by each other if we wanted space or quiet time. Bedrooms were lovely and roomy with the most comfortable bed I have slept in and large bathrooms with great showers in all. The kitchen had every utensil anyone would need (better then mine at home), with the added bonus of a pantry stocked with oils, sauces etc, just great to be able to cook a bbq and not have to spend a fortune on condiments. The idea is to leave what you may purchase so stocks are always replenished for the next guests, would have to be the best idea yet!
Great lounge and entertainment system, was like home away from home, but so much better and luxurious. We also had the wonderful housekeeper Edna in every day looking after house and us, truly felt like lifestyles of the rich and famous.
We swam in the pool and sat in the reef pools on the shoreline watching the colourful fish, snorkeled and kayaked, the house had everything we needed to do these activities.
Going to sleep listening to the sea and waking up to same meant we all slept wonderfully. Best holiday ever !

“Fabulous but Quirky”
Reviewed January 14, 2013 for a stay in December 2012

The Reef House is an Architectural marvel in a spectacular location.

The house is on an essentially private inlet with a private beach which has good snorkeling. The living area and master bedroom are spectacular with excellent outlooks and the pool is very good.

The house is 20 minutes from Port Vila on mainly dirt road.

While in the house I read a number of the architectural publications that were there. Harry Seidler is quoted as wanting to make buildings art essentially saying that users must accommodate the art not the other way round.

I suspect the Reef house was designed by an architect of that school.

For our purposes, as a family of six, the Reef house was perfect. If we go back to Vanuatu we will stay in the Reef House again.

I would highly recommend the Reef House to any group which can accommodate its idiosyncrasies. It would also be a great Wedding venue.
