Vintage Luxury Yacht Hotel Yangon

My husband and I had a unique wedding anniversary stay on board the charming vintage luxury Yacht hotel, Yangon located at a convenient distance from down town Yangon.

The first thing that caught my eye on the wooden gangplank leading up to the yacht were two large vintage looking chairs that made us feel like midgets. The curios on the yacht were an absolute treat for vintage lovers like us.

We had a river facing room with a balcony that looked out over the infinite expanse of the Yangon river. The view of the clear night sky with twinkling stars paired with drinks was sheer delight. Mosquitoes kept us company since the yacht was stationary, but that was a minor inconvenience in the backdrop of the beauty we were surrounded with. It will be good if the hotel provides some mosquito repellant in the rooms.

Though I love cruises, it was great to have the feeling of being on a cruise without the movement of the ship. And a large sized cabin unlike the usual small ship cabins was a huge plus.

Despite being a late riser I woke up very early to the first rays of sunlight streaming in. I walked out to the balcony and witnessed a spell binding sunrise with fishing boats bobbing up and down on the horizon.

Surrounded by the vast Yangon River, it was difficult to believe that bustling downtown Yangon was barely a short walk away.

The surprisingly affordable spa and the open air jaccuzi on the open deck of the ship looked very enticing. But, we didn't have enough time to avail of these services.

Meals in the in house restaurant were a bit pricey, but a setting like that obviously comes with a price tag. There are plenty of good, budget restaurants a short cab ride away. The bar was very innovatively designed and one can spend hours relaxing with drinks on the very comfortable chairs of the river facing bar.

We to pay a minimal port fees each time we drove in by taxi. Grab cabs are a very convenient option for getting around. The internet network was a bit weak in the room, but the reception helped us book Grab cabs on the app.

There is a monastery containing the tooth and hair relic of Buddha walking distance from the hotel.

To sum it up, stay at the Vintage Luxury Yacht Hotel if you are looking to stay in downtown Yangon in a unique setting where you also get to reconnect with yourself and slow down your pace of life.
