For the biggest part of our stay we stayed in a 3-4 person room which was decent for size, but the room was very unclean. There was black mold nearly everywhere, the toilet was loose and unstable and clearly too old to be used for a guesthouse. The kitchen wasn't properly cleaned and the cabinets were nearly falling apart. The plus side of this room was that it was in the basement so it was rather quiet.

For the last two days we stayed in a double room that lead directly to the commonroom area. The lock was dodgy, which made us feel unsafe. Also, if people were in the commonroom we could hear conversations word by word, which made it hard to sleep even after midnight. The mold was also worse in this room and we could definitely feel its effect on our health. There was a shared bathroom here which was definitely below standards as it was unclean and there was never any hot water. The kitchen was also unclean with dirty dishes just sitting around and there being a weird smell we couldn't identify.

The owner was very strange, mumbled a lot and didn't quite seem to know what he was doing. His English isn't very good and most of the time we had no idea what he meant and vice versa. He is also very racist, especially about Japanese people which made us feel very uncomfortable. He really put Japanese and other non-koreans down which is especially bad for someone who owns a hostel. On top of that he got drunk quite badly a couple of nights and had his manparts hanging out from his trousers while wandering into the rooms where guests ( girls) were staying.

The location is great but you're better of finding a different hostel and maybe pay a little more, but you definitely don't want to stay in this black mold infested place.

The good points were the location, free wifi, and there being airconditioning in the rooms.

This is the kind of place criminals would hide from the government. The place has extremely poor beds, dirty room and dirty bathrooms. The door has a lock which is never closed so everyone could just walk in. On top of that you can hear the sound of a club every night in your room. Definitely not the place you can relax after a day of sightseeing. On the positive sight the location is very central in Hongdae and the place is dirt cheap.

It's in the middle of Hongdae so it's close to a lot, if not all, of things. Shopping, food, subway, 24-hour convenience stores, parties, etc. Communication is also not that hard in these parts since the market includes students and foreigners. The rooms are kinda spacious, the beds are not that small, the common area and the bathroom are spacious as well. But everything is dirty. The owner does his best to clean up the place but since he's a guy maybe? Or its just him. Efforts are but wasted in trying to keep the place clean. Well it's a plus that you can use laundry machine for free. A minus again for the way he manipulates the aircon. Hehe. I wish he just hire someone to clean up the place in his stead. And they change the sheets for cleaner ones whenever there's new guests. Overall, you just get what you paid for.

So, this place is awesome, you stay in an actual apartment with a living room and kitchen and you share the bedroom. So if feels like a giant sleepover, it's great. Explore the city during the day, in the evening go out to several of the great food places nearby or have a beer, return back for a movie or just some good old truth or dare in the living room. The location is amazing as well, so much good stuff close by, bars, food vendors, and a street where you have street entertainers all the day. Magicians, musicians, dancers etc.

Free wifi, pretty good as well! The place was fairly easy to find if you just follow the instructions given. Oh yeah, and as mentioned the host is a talker, but, a cool guy!

Would I go back here? Absolutely!
