Happened to stumble upon this place after wanting to go to the other famous ones. The famous ones has super long queue and i just walked away from it. Luckily i stop infront of this place and decided to give it a try. This place also had a lot of celebrity visiting and in feature in variety shows as well. The staff is so friendly and accommodating despite the language barrier . They did not hesitate to help you out and do thing for you without asking. I really had a good meal and good experience in this place. Just being there with the locals and soaking in the ambience make it a memorable dinner. Will be back again if given a chance.

A good meal in winter. We really enjoyed it and want to try to cook it at home. It looks really simple. You have to serve Kimchi and water yourself but that is good because you don't have to wait for anyone to get them for you. Add noodle and other sides to your pan. There were lots of tourists and large groups of people. We got there early but every floor was filled up quickly. Enjoy. It can be hard to find but it is next to grilled fish restaurants.

One of the reasons why you go to a place like this is not just for local meal but for the friendly atmosphere. In these restaurants, you can easily ask for what koreans call " Service". It means: on the house.

Try and enjoy the wonderful hospitality.

The word is extremely useful and I found this video that portrays the difference in meaning very well in a wonderfully amusing manner :)

hope you all have wonderful time in Korea!

This is one of my favorite types of places to eat; simple and hardworking people who are good at what they do. This is where you'll see many locals coming to eat with coworkers after a long day of labor or with family to enjoy themselves inexpensively. It's one of those traditional restaurants that only serves one thing. I was told by my native comrade that this was a common thing to eat, though her family had only consumed it at much high dollar places and usually as an end to the winter season.

A meal for two cost 25,000 won and came with more than enough chicken for the two of us. Also in the broth were large mushroom slices, thick slices of potato, and the cylinder style rice cakes. The flavor was very simple but delicious. The broth tasted great and helped to nurse my sore throat.

Water and extra "salad" are self-serve. The "salad" is combined with soy sauce and what I think is garlic (and spices is preferred) in order to make a garnish for the chicken.

They also serve Soju in Chamsul and Blossom varieties as well as the common beers.

I was delighted by the food, and the atmosphere fits the Jongro 3 area. Not the best place for a business dinner or first date but a great place for feeling like one in the crowd or taking a familiar friend.

At the back lane and not the easiest to find but worth the effort to locate this hidden germ. Mostly locals come here for a nice hot chicken broth. Restaurant is clean and comfortable with friendly staff/owner. Though they speak little English, it was more then compensate with illustrative pictures and gesture.
Overall a good experience on typical Korean cuisine.
