I was in Seoul with friends over the weekend for 4 days. This hotel was highly recommended, and while not exactly what I was looking for, decided to go with it since it was right smack in the heart of shopping district, Myungdong. Price-wise, this hotel is definitely value for money.
First off, this is an extremely popular hotel given its location and price, so be forewarned, book early especially if you want the larger more spacious rooms. We made bookings 4 months in advance, only to be told the Premium rooms were not available. So we settled for the Deluxe rooms.
The room is clean, spacious, had 2 large double beds, seating area and complimentary in-room high speed wifi. Bathroom was very clean, toiletries sufficient. Tea and coffee amenities and drinking water are provided. Air-conditioning is individual, and not centrally controlled. All in all a very functional and practical, no-frills hotel.
Continental breakfast is included in the room rate, nothing to shout about, but it's good enough to get you started for the day.
Locationwise, this hotel is great. It's right in the heart of one of the busiest shopping districts, and across the room from the Lotte shopping mall. Plenty of food choices all round the hotel. There's an excellent Korean BBQ restaurant just next to the hotel.
And now the bad - Unfortunately, this hotel is not exactly the most flexible. They were unable to accommodate early check in or late check out, even though we offered to pay, unable to allow me to book an extra night prior to arrival, due to the hotel being completely fully booked. There's also no gym or swimming pool facilities, and the lobby area is often crammed with unsightly left luggage under netting, and throngs of tourists milling around at all times, either checking in or out. We requested for a room at the end of the corridor and away from the lifts, hopeful for undisturbed sleep. But despite this, we were nevertheless awakened by cleaning ladies at 6 in the morning, who insists on banging doors and shouting at each other across the corridor. Needless to say, rather disconcerting.
All in all, it's a good hotel to pick if you don't intend to spend much time in the hotel; it's clean, practical, functional, no-frills. Do not expect 5-star standard or service, and you won't be disappointed.
