There is one place to eat in Myeondong. It is Myeongdong Kyoja. The kimchi has very strong garlic additions and it is spicy. Hot. Yet the pungent taste totally compliments the dumplings, the cold noodles and the soup noodles that you can order.
These are the only items one can order here. Turnover of space at tables is fast because it churns out satisfied diners at a rapid pace.

Order what you want, pay at the table, collect your receipt and within 3 mins, your order will land at your table. Pull out the drawers to get your spoon and chopsticks, water is on the table and so are the tissues for you to wipe not only your mouth but also your perspiration from the heat of the kimchi.

As I type this, I find myself drooling in my recollection of many visits to this place. And salivating at the memories of the kimchi and dumplings served there. Skin is so thin and well made that you can see the contents of the dumpling all round. Steamed, delicious, hot, spicy and wonderful.

Most of all, it is very affordable. Missing this is missing what EVERY Seoul resident has tried and know about. Big item on your bucket list. By the way, forget about asking them if they will sell you the kimchi which you can keep asking for it non stop. They will never sell you. My next thoughts will be to buy the shop..... Yes it is that good to me.

Another favourite restaurant for my family - from grandparents' days. Situated in the heart of Myung-Dong, it has such an authentic feel to the place. I've seen some crazy queues at peak times - it's best to avoid although I have known many to embrace the queues. Their specially garlic-y kimchi compliments beautifully their hot dumpling soups. It's like comfort food for Koreans (and it seems for many non-Koreans too!) What more can I ask for? Great food. Great price. Go and enjoy!

Menu is very limited since they only specializes in a few dishes. Their noodle dish is excellent. We went to their main branch but the lines were long. We decided to go to this branch which is a few blocks away. Luckily, we were be able to be seated after 15 minutes of waiting. After eating, the lines were long already.

The menu has 4 items, a chicken broth noodles with minced chicken, spicy cold noodles, soybean noodles and dumplings.

We tried the chicken noodles, which was amazing for beating the winter cold. Tip: grab the minced chicken before it floats away in the broth. The dumplings were filled to the brim and wrapped so thinly, you could see through it. The spicy cold noodles had a good bite and a wrath of sesame.

Probably a 15 minute wait, but it's pretty much, order your food and pay at your table, then eat and move on to the next stop.
