“Elegance with service to match”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2012

This is an oasis, literally, in the heart of Cairo. Elegant gardens and outdoor dining in the rear, the hotel lobby and restaurants themselves inhabit a beautifully refurbished palace from the 19th century. The palace is connected to and flanked by two modern high-rises with rooms that meet Marriott's exacting standards. The service is impeccable. And the breakfast buffet dazzling. My son and I stayed almost a week. Memories of a lifetime.

Egypt is very close to my heart as I had gone there in January 2011 (it does not have option of January 2011 in dropdown below so selected March 2011) with my husband for honeymoon. Our journey started from Cairo and stayed at Marriott for 4 days and we had great time there. Staff there is very friendly. We never found it difficult to communicate with anyone and they were so helpful that those 4 days were our best stay in entire trip.

Food excellent
Services Excellent
Staff always smiling and ready to help at any hour

I have lived in Cairo for four years and stayed in the Marriott on and off for maybe 3 months in total. Egypt is a very special place and one should not expect service levels comparable to other countries. Among all the hotels in Cairo the Marriott was traditionally the best run. It still is. Service is usually friendly and swift and the quality is also very good. The breakfast is simply the best in town. The beds are great and if you face the Gezira Club you'll sleep well. I would choose a quiet room over a room with a view but maybe that's different for people who spend only a little time in Cairo. Another big plus is that the next Drinkie's is just across the road - maybe not for long though.

Room Tip: if you mind noise do avoid the rooms facing the bridge in the Zamalek Tower.

Typical Marriott quality. Good restaurant food. As for a room facing the Nile if possible. The ambiance is getting a little worn down so may need a little sprucing up for the rooms. However given the tourism, problems of Cairo now that may be delayed. Centrally located at Zamalek. Felt very safe. Overall a pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

I had 3 nights in the Marriott in Cairo last week - it is probably the 4th or 5th time that I have stayed there over the last 5 years. The hotel is showing its age a little in that the decor in the rooms is a little dated but it is well serviced and professional. The views of the Nile are great but equally the garden views rooms (which I have stayed in previously) are very relaxed and calm in the midst of the Cairo bustle. Some decent F&B outlets and plenty of room in the landscaped grounds to have some space to yourself.

Room Tip: If it is yiour first trip to Egypt (whether business or pleasure) ask for a Nile View room - the bal...
