We stayed here one night. Our arrival was early in the morning and the front desk clerk was extremely helpful. She found us an available room so we could check in then. Our flight the next day was in the evening so we asked about getting a late check out or if there was a place we could shower/change after spending the afternoon at the pool. She called and got us a check out at 5pm (we were leaving at 4:30) so this was perfect. What a great welcome to the property.

Shortly after arriving at our room we received a delivery of water and some cakes. Our room had a balcony with a view to the side of the pool. breakfast was a nice buffet with meals cooked to order. It was actually warmer to sit outside on the patio which was fine as it overlooked the beautiful gardens.

The pool is large and heated and there were lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas. We spent a few hours there the first day after touring the museums. The second day we ate a late lunch by the pool (food was very good) and spent the day relaxing before our flight back to Cairo and on to the US.

My only criticism is that the A/C did not work. We had to open the door every once in awhile to get cool air into the room. The hallways were very cold so I know the A/C worked in the place. This was minor compared to the hospitality we received, the great value the hotel was, the beautiful grounds, friendly staff and great pool. I would definitely stay here again and think this is a nice destination place for a week or so to relax, tour and relax. They had massages and a beauty salon and the prices were very reasonable. We did not have time, but maybe we will be back.

We booked it thinking it's a hotel of Sofitel.. we always have had good experience with sofitel.. however, this was an exception.. we were given a room which was boiling hot.. no air condition.. on confronting the reception staff, we got a rude response.. the staff was unapologetic and giving the most stupid explanations I have ever heard.. we called for the manager.. he was quite helpful and upgraded the room.. that had air conditioning... he said it's not a Sofitel hotel!!! So please stop selling it by its name!! The breakfast was sub standard..
the only good thing about is the location

The Pavilion is a modern wing of the Winter Palace hotel, with which it shares all facilities. The en - suite bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, most having a garden and Nile view. This is an ideal base for exploring Luxor and also for relaxing.

Most of the rooms in this hotel face west. In the winter, there is no air conditioning. With the sun beating down on plate glass windows, the afternoon temperature in our room was in the mid-80s. When I inquired, I was told they only offered central heating at this time of year. They offered a fan. It never arrived. Perhaps by midnight our room would have been cool enough for sleep, but we checked out. Do not go here without assurance that the A/C will be working.

I scored a great deal for flights+hotel so chose this place because I'd heard so much about it... turns out this is not the Sofitel Winter Palace... it's the Sofitel Pavillon Winter. Subtly different, but definitely different. They are "sister" hotels which share a beautiful garden space, pool, etc, but different. The Pavillon was very clean and comfortable and we had a lovely view of the garden. Breakfast was a very big spread and we greatly enjoyed taking that into the garden. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody traveling to Luxor!

Room Tip: I got a terrific deal for this on Expedia or Priceline... much cheaper than in person.
