Would love to return with granddaughter - unfortunately the problems in Egypt have prevented us from doing so. Only downfall with Egypt (NOT hotel) is the hassle and agro every time you step outside - caleche/taxi/faluca/shop tat - NO THANK YOU

This hotel was a treat after a few days of backpacking. It’s facilities are clean and the views from the bedroom balconies are beautiful. We ate on the rooftop from a menu that had a wide range of options, including fillet steak and vegetarian options.

The hotel is near to Luxor temple and the markets, which are a must visit. There is also an ATM around the corner which is convenient.

The WiFi is free, but it unfortunately didn’t work in the rooms.

We have stayed here 4 times and it is a very comfortable hotel. It is not as flashy as some of the Luxor hotels but you get what you pay for. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a great roof terrace and a pool (which I found a bit cold). You can also eat up there and get a drink as well. The rooms are very basic but there is all you need for a comfortable stay. Also in the foyer there is a gift shop selling a good range of gifts.

Where to begin ! Our room was dated but clean and with a view across the Nile. The cleaning lady was delightful. That's all the good stuff ! Rooftop pool ? Yes, it had one ! Surrounded by ripped and threadbare astroturf covered by really dusty mats which rucked up in the wind and made underfoot dangerous. Pool bar ? No ! Snack bar ? No !Rooftop toilets ? No door on them ! On to breakfast, or rather the lack of it. There was a plate of cheese and if you asked you could get a plain omelette. Thats it ! My wife reports the coffee as undrinkable and there was no tea. No fruit, meat, bread or spreads. The location was ok to be able to walk to the centre (20 mins) but was at a T junction with the main road with non stop car horns and shouting until about 3am. The hassle from taxi drivers and particularly horse carriage drivers was non stop as soon as you exited the hotel and continued wherever you went. This was really "in your face" and whilst my wife and I can handle that it may be very intimidating for some. The only way to sum this up is to say that I think the hotel has changed hands and so you should only take notice of this years reviews. You have been warned ! HOWEVER, Luxor is a total must for anyone who has not seen it before. Don't miss out, just avoid this hotel, and beware because some companies are using a photo of the "new" St Joseph Hotel which is only half finished and not yet habitable.

Room Tip: 4th 5th and 6th floors have a great view.
