This may be expensive by Kenyan standards but is still quite reasonable for good quality food compared to European and North American prices. We enjoyed our lunch in the garden, which is a really beautiful and tranquil setting. Servers were super-friendly and attentive; almost too much so ... which is not really a complaint but we felt like we were constantly interacting with them rather than just enjoying our lunch. Kenya is not a tipping culture but, from the intense attention by the wait staff, it seemed expected here.

Definitely not deserving of its Tripdvisor rank among Nairobi restaurants. Dozens of restaurants here consistently significantly better. Over-priced very average food.

We are extremely disappointed to hear that your visit did not meet expectations and that you thought we were overpriced with average food. It is regrettable to learn that we fell short of our customer service mark, which is to provide the best of food and service for each and every one of our guests and we should be most grateful if you could furnish us with further information to help us in our internal quality control and ultimately a guidance for corrective action.

Average everything, yet too pricy.
Uncomfortable tables and chairs.

I loved the concept of an art exhibition in the garden. Still, there are better restaurants in Nairobi

It is with great disappointment that we read your review. We are troubled to hear that we did not meet with your expectations and you found everything just average and too pricey in addition to the chairs being uncomfortable. It is certainly discouraging to learn that we fell way short of our customer service mark which is to provide the best for each and every one of our guests. Your candid feedback has been passed on to the team for review and correction. Although an apology will unfortunately not alter the outcome of your experience on this occasion we do extend it with all sincerity.

Tamambo is a lovely place to eat, relax and socialise in the Karen part of Nairobi. One can either eat in the restaurant, selecting excellent food from a menu with a wide range of dishes or take a table in the garden outside of the bar/pub section, again with a good menu and excellent food or one can sit in the bar.

The service is excellent, helpful and friendly. There is an extensive range of good beers and wines.

When sitting in the garden in the evening hot stoves with live coals are placed nearby the tables to ward off chill evening air.

Tamambo is great place for both informal or family and for getting together for business.

If you want luxury without paying luxury prices, try this. The cuisine is just getting better and better. No surprise that the restaurant is part of the Tamarind group. While there are tourists, there are a lot of well known faces from the neighborhood, regulars is always the hallmark of consistency and reliability. The bar is a favourite haunt of mine over the years and is spotless and well run. The staff are expertly trained and the Management is available always. I brought several colleagues there yesterday. I suggest recommendations from the Chef. The house Red wine is splendid, Ill be back for more. If you want privacy and beauty, the Garden is both discreet and Romantic, lots of seclusion. Unlike most such restaurants, the Security staff are well mannered and cheerful. The restaurant always attracts the diplomatic core in abundance but its the local residents that tell you the standard.
